We found a few places that were worth a visit. I will catergorise them as I think appropriate

Informal spanish food and bar - Bonitos -

This is located with other bars and eating places as well as a flamenco dancing bar very close to us. Directions - go to r-a-bout at the bottom of the hill turn left and first rights (follow sign for 'camping') it takes you towards the naturalist club (no there are no nudies about they are within their complex). Along this small dual carriageway you will pass Frankies bar - english couple very friendly and have  quiz night on thursdays and entertainment friday and saturdays. Keep going to the very bottom and on your left is bonitos. Typical mean swordfish salad and a beer- 10 Euros - always has a gift for children.

Asian Buffet

Excellent value all you can eat - from an assortment of starters and main courses that are cooked in front of you with a sauce of your choice. Fish & Meat. Ten euros plus a free bottle of wine as you leave.

Semi formal restaurant - The Monastery Chapel

You will need to book as they never advertise due to its popularity. Direction - along the Mojacar road turning towards Turre. Past the Petrol station a building on the left with stain glass windows can be seen from the main  road. Turn up a dirt track and it brings you to this wonderful restaurant with tables in the grounds surrounded by fountains gargoiles etc. There's even a little chapel inside as it retain much of the original furniture etc.

Think that's enough for now - bon apetite

Christine

The Neptune on the beach at Mojacar is nice.

Also, the restaurant at the Hotel Mexico (next to the pool) does fantastic steaks has a 'Basil Fawlty' type waiter!

For view, you can't beat Mojacar Pueblo. There are a few restauarants/bars at the top.

Cheers

How about on the road through Vilaricos - Al Mar Del Mar - or something similar.  English chef, ex posh London restaurant, I think, but really good food at v reasonable prices, especially lunch.  Puddings are to die for . . . .

I would like to bring this thread back to the top.

Now we all know the area quite well it would be nice to compile a list of good eating places plus directions of how to get to them.

Any recommendations?

Linda

I think you have had too much vino!!!

It is called "El Mar, La Mar"

It is a fabulous restaurant with lots of different seating areas, quite rustic but charming. The staff are fantastic & although we have only been 4 times, we are greeted like long lost friends.

Terrific food & not too pricey either.

It is on my list with a telephone number for booking.

Noreen
