Hi EOS,

Unfortunately I have had to go on a strict yeast free diet, this has been easy so far,but next week am going skiing for a week with two other families and 6 kids, and the norm is usually taking sandwiches/baguettes with us.  I dont think rice cakes are going to be that filling, therefore can anyone recommend a brand, or place to shop that I can purchase it from, and is there anything I need to ask for in particular if I was to try a spanish bakery?  Thanks!

sam

just a thought. My wife has to have a gluten free diet, so we bought our own small bread maker. Could you do that and make your own?

You could make Soda Bread, but it doesn't keep so needs to be eaten fresh.

Hi Goodstich44 and Marysafc

Thanks for your replies, a breadmaker is a good idea, never thought about that, will put some thought into that for the longterm, but not ideal to take away for holiday.  Marysafc I did not know soda bread was ok to eat, are you definately sure? if so, I can feel a trip to Morrisons coming on, unless anyone knows where I can buy soda bread from?

You could try a Health food shop for yeast free bread.( Do they have them in Spain?)  My daughter had to avoid yeast and we travelled 15 miles to go to a French bakery! They use yeast free flour. Soda bread is fine to eat

Hi there ... I have to follow a gluten free diet and find that both the health food shops and now most of the major supermarkets do a good range of gluten free products. Our local Hipercor ( Cortes Ingles ) in particular has an excellent selection, prob better than I ever saw in the UK, and not just gluten free stuff, foods for all kinds of diets. The Hipercor I go to is the Mijas Costa one, but I'm sure they have similar selections, so it should be easy to get your hands on something!

El Corte Ingles is the only one I've seen with unleavened bread (Pan sin levadura).  I have seen the gluten free stuff in Mercadona but not spotted any other type (we have a friend who visits and the sin gluten stuff is freely available).  Not sure if you have any specialist bakers in your area (Greek, Turkish, Armenian, Lebanese etc who specialise in unleavened bread).
