ADANA is a charity based in Estepona (Málaga), who cares for abandoned dogs and cats, feeding them, nursing them, and replacing them in good homes. We are currently raising funds like crazy for building a new kennels wich will improve the life quality of the animals whilst they wait to be adopted, and also plan to walk from our kennels in Estepona (Málaga) to Santiago de Compostela with dogs, a pilgrimage to raise awareness for our cause, next March 2009. You can contact us on 634934146 for information on our history and projects. Many thanks for your support.

What a wonderful idea to do the pilgrimage with pooches. How long do you expect it to take?

Great work, keep it up.

Hello, Roberto, thanks for your interest. It will take a full seven weeks, walking around 25 km each day. It is divided in weeks, so people can subscribe for a minimun of one week up to the whole seven if they want to. Some weeks are easier than others, for example the first week is quite hard as it is up and down mountains, the third is quite flat ground... But there is a support car that takes care of the luggage so the walkers only need to carry their day pack (lunch and water...) and mind their dog. What you pay for the week covers breakfast, lunch and hotel or pilgrim hostel. The dogs are 15, from our kennels, so each week there will be 15 walkers. And whoever cannot walk but would like to help they can sponsor one dog by giving a certain amount per km. Obviously the beautiful thing would be to be able to do the walk and enjoy the landscape and the companionship of the animals (well, also that of the other walkers, je je).
