Sterling account?

I heard that you can have a Sterling account, pay GBP directly into this. You also have a euro account. The bank transfer the sterling into euros, then to your account at business rate.
Is this possible?

Yes. Lloyds do this and Natwest do - I have accounts at both. The exhcange rate isnt brilliant though! Spanish banks or some of tham anyway do the same, but the foregin currency can only be transferred in and out of that account ie you cannot go and deposit or withdraw cash from it.
SO, if you have a Lloyds account, put sterling in, transfer to your euro account at their rate and then transfer to spain. Or transfer euros in and out of the euro account.

Don't overlook the fact thaat there will be an annual fee for holding the euro account -there is for the lloydstsb one. I don't know how much it is & also there may be transaction charges for the euro account as well.
I am not back in the office until Friday but I will have a look then & put some details on here.
I work for ltsb but my product knowledge in this area is sadly lacking, I am afraid.

If you have to pay to have the account and pay transaction charges as well, surely it is better to go with one of the money exchange companies?
