Spanish license renewal

My Spanish driving license is due for renewal in Feb 2018.

I was told that traffico inform you by post about the renewal with the form needed.

How far in advance of the renewal date do they inform you?

Can you renew without the traffico letter and form?

Any other info would be appreciated.

I did check other posts but could not find anything about this point.

You can renew it 3 months before it expires. You don't need the reminder letter. You can do evrything at one of the approved medical centres on the list here: http://www.dgt.es/Galerias/seguridad-vial/centros-colaboradores/Listado-de-Centros-de-Reconocimiento-Conductores.pdf

There's some near you (Fuengirola/Marbella) if you scroll down to P332

I was to be away for more than 3 months before my DL came up for renewal.  I renewed it 4 months before the due date but the new DL was then dated to run from the date I renewed it, not the due date.

Hi, My spanish license is due for renewal next year. I have read various threads about the subject but still not clear of the correct procedure.
