We have been members for 3 years now and cannot praise them enough.  They offer such a fantastic service for such a low annual cost.

The best thing about them is that you can call them out at any time for any thing, even if you've just hurt a finger or something.  They normally turn up within an hour.  It's like having a mobile GP so you don't have to queue or make appointments.  They just turn up to wherever you are when you call them.

Can't praise them enough.

Justin

It's a one-off fee.  If you need to go to a hospital for example they will take you there (whether it be a private or public one) but there is nothing extra to pay.

They do, however, have a "surgery" in Puerto Banus where if you need to, for example, get your blood checked they could do it for you there, although there is usually a small fee for things like that.

Sorry if I sound so stupid Justin, but if they take you to hospital do you still need some other form of  insurance that would cover the hospital treatment. Thanks again

Yes.  If on holiday you just need to make sure you have your Euro Health Insurance Card (replaced the old E111 form) to get free treatment abroad, or alternatively you can have private health insurance for this purpose.

Helicopteros Sanitarios is only like a GP / ambulance service.

We know many people who use the state system and are perfectly happy with it, although some say they have problems in terms of the language barrier.  We personally took out health insurance with Sanitas which for the whole family comes out at about 400 Euros a quarter.  There are some good private hospitals here so we think it's worth the money.
Hope that helps.

Justin

Have a look at other message boards to do with Healthcare in Spain. There's loads of info been posted. In particular, look for posts by Bobaol, who is a mine of info & advice on this topic. You can use the forum search function to find his messages.
