Bank Transfers within Spain - How long does it take

Hi,

I recently sent a 'transferencia' or internal transfer from my Banco Santander online account to Caja Bank Madrid to pay an invoice. How long should this take before the recipient gets it?

Naively I thought if I sent this yesterday (Sunday) It would at least get there by the end of the next working day?

Is this going to be like the old BACs 3-5 days?

I have bought things online in Spain,  Germany and France and made online SEPA bank payments.  I have had confirmation of receipt of the payments within minutes.

I think three business days is normal when transfering money to a different bank. It may depend on the bank though.

Hi John, there was no option for sending SEPA payments that I could see on my online Banco Santander, just 'transferencia' it's just a basic non-resident account so maybe lacks some functions. They don't proviade any confirmation other than debiting your account for the value plus fees!

I normally stick to debit card/paypal for convenience but on this occasion it was not possible to pay by these methods.

Mine is a resident’s account.   I have never been charged for a  SEPA transfer.   I unstained that is illegal to charge, but I am not 100% certain.

I have a Non Resident account with Sabadell and transfers reach next working day.

Transferwise won't transfer within Spain, it needs to be sterling to euros or euros to sterling, not euros to euros, for example. Also it is not worldwide.

When I make a SEPA transfer online, it appears to be immediate.  I certainly have had confirmation of payment emails within minutes when I have bought online and that appears to be 24/7.
