I booked Fibre Optic online with movistar on 9th December and it was installed yesterday. Seems very fast so far, much faster than the 30mb VDSL we used to have.

I think its 58 euros a month for up to 300mb speeds including line rental and some calls etc

I think your best bet for internet is Movistar Fibre optic, which is currently being rolled out (mine is booked in for 1st week in Jan). Pretty much all English TV is through the internet now so you want a solid speed and I've tried various boxes and modems and they are never great, especially when trying to stream TV. I've got the normal ADSL at the minute and it's pretty good. fibre is much faster though.

If you get your internet sorted and choose to go for internet TV pacakges, then you would either go down the paid route (www.wliptv.com) or similar for around 30 euros a month for full sky type packages or save a few quid with the free options such as Android and filmon.com. Here you would buy an android box and download software to view free streams, but usually the quality and reliability are poor and you need some tech knowledge to keep fiddling about to find streams.

Don't think the retuning to Intelsat 907 is an option for Duquesa Village as it requires a realignment of the dish and the purchase of a new decoder box. As the dishes are communal I'm sure you'd need community approval to move the dish, especially as any other users feeding  off the same dish will lose their current package (even if that is only the couple of FTA channels left on sky) too unless they invest in the new box.

I don't think there are any reasonable options for TV without having an internet connection. but there are options to get internet without having to have a phone line (such as WIMAX 3/4g) available through orbit in Estepona. I heard something about a line of sight broadcast method if you can view an antenna on top of one of the mountains, not sure where to sign up though. To be fair I doubt the monthly subs are a lot cheaper than Movistar VDSL which is much quicker and lower setup.

Cheapest method if you only come for holidays is bring a USB drive full of previously downloaded Tv and films. There are plently of sites for downloading free. I bet a lot of holiday makers spend time around the port bars during the day using the free wifi to download last nights TV!

Hi John, there was no option for sending SEPA payments that I could see on my online Banco Santander, just 'transferencia' it's just a basic non-resident account so maybe lacks some functions. They don't proviade any confirmation other than debiting your account for the value plus fees!

I normally stick to debit card/paypal for convenience but on this occasion it was not possible to pay by these methods.

Thanks Fartharder, I'lll let the vendor know to look out for it in a  day or so then.

Yes or even a big one if you want!

We use the barbecue frequently over the summer as do most of our neighbours.

I've seen a few units with large built in ceramic structures but we use gas mainly.
