Bit of a odd double question but.....

Are portable gas heaters allowed in Spanish apartments? Somethink like ebay item 121324611550 which needs no venting and has an integtrated gas bottle....and looks like a wood burner thus saving on electic?

Also, does anyone know the online link for Spanish income tax declaring for non -residence owners and is this

only payable at the end of the year after completing property contracts - 1 month before the year, 1 month after the year, what is the situation please?

And I know this is a silly 2 questions but:

1. Is there any free banking in Spain?

2. If I have a flat on the top floor with an east facing balcony, no lift, 5th floor, thus not in any way suitable for a holiday let will I get anywhere putting these facts when they assume I am renting when I am not. This is illegal - a tax for no income - no income = no tax so why call it income tax?

Many thanks

David

You've rather confused me with some of those points but I'll have a go.

Yes, you can have a portable gas heater in an apartment. GaS appliances in Spain require a 5 year check but this does not apply to portable gas heaters.

Also, does anyone know the online link for Spanish income tax declaring for non -residence owners and is this

only payable at the end of the year after completing property contracts - 1 month before the year, 1 month after the year, what is the situation please?

Nothing to do with when you bought the property. Tax returns are due by the middle of June each year

And I know this is a silly 2 questions but:

1. Is there any free banking in Spain?

Yes. Some banks have a rule if you pay in so much a month, usually around 700 euro a mont. Others have a minimum account balance of at least 2000 eurso. Ask the bank what their rules are. We have our pension paid in monthly and get no charges at all. In fact,we get a discount on our direct debits for electric an water etc.

2. If I have a flat on the top floor with an east facing balcony, no lift, 5th floor, thus not in any way suitable for a holiday let will I get anywhere putting these facts when they assume I am renting when I am not. This is illegal - a tax for no income - no income = no tax so why call it income tax?

No chance. It is not an income tax, it is a benefit tax. You are getting a benefit from having somewhere that you gain a benefit from. Regardless of whether you get a rental income or not, you are still getting a benefit from having a property. The imputed tax is classed as a benefit, not as some people think an income.

Many thanks

David

Thanks for clearing that up bobaol. So if I am not in Spain in June I can pay this from the UK online. I suppose I could pay online from a UK bank account using BACS (Lloyds has a £10 fee).

If anyone knows the URL for their income tax site I'd be grateful. I'm a bit of a stickler for having everything in place before starting!

With non res tax you have to get the return in (form 210) by the December for the previous year. It's residents tax returns by June.

David

Here you go, see what you make of that. many people do it themsleves but many more get professional help, only costs about 50€ single person or 80€ for joint ownership

https://www.agenciatributaria.gob.es/AEAT.sede/tramitacion/GF00.shtml

If you didn't buy until this year return due dec 2015 If you bought during 2013 return due dec 2014 - you only owe pro rata for the months that you have owned.

Bobs right, no allowances, no set offs, no nothing. You will need the catastral value of your property (found on your IBI invoice) to calculate the tax.

Thanks boys. Just looking at Form 210 - sorry to ask the obvious but the form is a bit confusing. Some points I am unclear on:

Accural: I have not bought yet but if I just did now would I pay for the whole year or 1st Quarter, 2nd etc and what would the accural year be now 2014 or 2015? Do I click 'Grouping' (whatever that means) and what would be the accural date from, say, today?

INCOME TYPE: I do not have a Spanish income (in Spain) so would I choose 'exempt'?

210 R Income: Just a holiday home so what do I fill in here, all or just section 06 (I assume)?

Settlement: Tick 19 & 20?

Tax Rate Law (questions 21 to 31) Is this for me to fill out as it is double dutch!

Receipt number from previous self assessment: do I put n/a?

Choose the type of tax return: Love to put Zero Tax Payable but I assume this has to be TO DEPOSIT?

So then when I click validate & generate PDF am I taken to a payment  page or do I need to take/send in the printed PDF to spain?

Sorry for the questions but this will be a huge relief to me - I hate fines!!

Many thanks in advance.

David
