Just for you then casperruby,a brief synopsis:

1.I was approached at Malaga airport while in the boarding queue last week by a lady with a questionnaire. This has happened many times, and is a scenario familiar to most travellers, there is no hassle, and as soon as the interviewers are informed that you are a Spanish resident they cheerfully move on.

2.This particular one lingered to chat and in the process revealed that there are things she really misses about England, above all carrot-cake.

3.I promised to bring back some carrot-cake with me on my return, and then promptly lost the details I'd written down.

4.I posted this story on the forums in the hope that someone would know the company concerned.

5.Suggestions have been made, principally that it may be a company called Club La Costa.

6.Having contacted them,Club La Costa denied that they have employees working at Malaga airport, and Malaga airport authorities also denied that these workers are present there.

7.Hence the puzzle, and hence therefore the suggestion that Shoestring(the eponymous name of a UK detective series from so long ago that it is familiar only to older readers) is brought to mind, given that every episode started with a seemingly innocent line of inquiry only to become complicated by murkier issues.

That's about it,up to now anyway!! So if anyone knows the name of the company involved,and/or comes across a petite, blonde English lady, about 40-45(please God let me have guessed that right!) in Departures,I would be delighted if they would let it be known! There are already quite a few people involved in these forums who are on the case,so fingers crossed....!?

Many thanks casperruby,I'm flying in to Malaga myself on April 24th,so if I beat you to it,or indeed glean anything before then I'll put you out of your misery and all the others out of theirs!

Keeping you up to speed,I've just received another denial, this time from Diamond Resorts International:

My name is Albert and I am a Specialist inHospitality Management. I have been forwarded your email and asked topersonally respond to you accordingly. As we are a vacation ownership company, we have no connection with theemployees of the airport inquestions. I would suggest that you contact theairport directly for assistance.

How curious, nobody seems to engage passengers with questionnaires at Malaga airport, yet we've all seen them!!!

Them loverlys that flutter the eye lashes hook me totally, in Sainsburys she did the works on me and I bought a great 6 pack of solar panels, couple of days later she was in Tesco's, WOW, now was she a cracker, bowled me over so much I couldn't resist her 30 x 20 conservatory, another flutter and I was in heaven,  couple of hours later on my way home I called into Wicks for some screws, their she was again, page three for sure, selling stair lifts, how could I refuse to be the proud owner of a high tech 40 foot long double seater turbo boost stair lift.

Thinking I wouldn't see those fluttering eyelashes ever again blown me down in Aldi she was selling swimming pools, has anyone had any luck in refusing those flutterings, not me anyway, so now I have a fully heated olympic sized pool complete with slide and no less portable changing rooms plus showers.

I just hope I don't get to meet this loverly Lady you speak of in the Airport, a Casa I dont need, as everybody has now started to complain about me on the caravan site where I live.

Have you considered therapy to counter the ease with which you are apparently deceived? Modern life being as it is,you must find it very difficult to cope.Obviously, people such as myself, having no personal experience of this affliction, can't possibly empathise, but I'm sure there must be someone somewhere who can help you to at least come to terms with your condition.

All the best in your search,

KJW

Dear Hugh,

How life-affirming it is to be made aware that the spirit of romance, far from being in terminal decline as many have suggested,is in fact alive and well........and in Birmingham of all places! Who would ever have thought it? Keep up the good work!!

Dear kjw453261

It just seems a bit strange your quest over this innocent young lady going about her everyday work what if shes married how would her husband react, also if it was that important to you then you would not have lost her details, you may creep her out if you pursue her in this way why not wait for fate and our lord Jesus christ to put you together if that is to be my son.

And the people of Birmingham are good kind people and do not deserve that comment

Love Hugh x

I'm sure they don't,but I'm not a wierdo so I don't deserve that comment either. It's about a carrot-cake,for pity's sake,is that really so difficult to understand? Do you interpret all the innocent stories you encounter as perverse in some way? If so I'm afraid it's you who has the problem.

I suspect that Jesus Christ,if he exists, has more pressing matters to occupy himself with than delivering a carrot-cake to Spain.

And "if that is to be my son"......if WHAT is to be your son?

Affectionately,

KJW

I'm sorry you mentioned it too,but you did so I was obliged to respond.Of course I contacted the airport, and anyone else I could think of for that matter, in order to do what I said I would.A successful outcome now seems highly unlikely, but I tried at least.I've always felt that eccentricity has much to recommend it so if others are bothered by that,it is of little concern to me,it's the supposed "normal" ones who make me nervous! And I can assure you that  a great many people have actually embraced the spirit of the enterprise, rather than suspecting the existence of any darker motives.

Plenty of custard tarts in England though so no real need to bother about any in Spain

It was most certaintly Club La Costa that asked me to fill in the questionnaire.  In fact one of their colleagues was on the same flight i was on.
