I'm looking for short-term  houseshare / room rent in the Alpujarra region, including Orgiva.  I can't seem to find an online classifieds place similar to gumtree here in the UK. ALso is it posssible to find something in the £100/week or less range?

Thanks

Can't help with finding somewhere - ideally you need a quick househunting visit and ask in a few bars - there will be LOADS of places, but often unadvertised.

As for price, it is an interesting area, touristy of course but fundamentally pretty poor. Given that nice houses in my area (Axarquía region of Málaga province) rent for €300-375pm my guess would be that prices would be similar around Orgiva / Lanjaron / the villages. Well under your budget.

If you can't fit in an extra visit for looking, you could stay a few nights in a small hotel while looking round - I'm sure you'd find somewhere within a few days.

€200 pm for a house-share in the centre of Orgiva.

THanks TamaraEssex!

That's v reassuring. And thanks for the advert link. Checking into a hotel for a few days and asking around sounds perfect.

My plan is to hop around the region but without wanting to pay hotel prices, and then settle somewhere for a while. I'll ask around the bars/cafes and see what's available.

Thanks!
