need your help people

Hi guys,

well we need your help,does anyone know of a general medical centre or normal not private doctors surgery -+in fuengirola? We both know where the local hospital is however we both been struck down with this horrible long term bug around not hospital cases (yet) and need some anti biotics from a normal doctors. Does anyone know where and how we sign on to a regular not private doctors? We have social security and nie numbers but cannot seem to find where to register or how to do it.Any help gratefully recieved.

Oh dear, sorry to hear that.

You need to go to your local centro de salud, that's probably your best bet.

Do you have your medical card?  If not, just turn up with proof that you pay your social security and copy of NIE and I think that should be enough.  They will issue you with a card if you haven't got one.  It's been a long time since I did it so can't quite remember the process.

The number of the centre is on the page I linked to above so if your Spanish is good enough maybe give them a call before going down there.

 It may surprise you, it certainly did surprise us when we discovered, that in our area anyway you can buy antibiotics over the counter in the Farmacia. Our friends around us do this and one even sent them to her daughter in London when she had no time to visit a doctor there.

I would not recommend it but it gives you something to think about.
