Hi there,

I'm not sure what the crack is on this particular forum, whether it is the done thing to add to someone else's thread or start your own - I know some boards get miffed in both scenarios.  But I just wanted to start a thread to let people know I'm looking for work and wondered whether anyone out there knew anyone who was hiring or could help me out.

I live in Gandia, Valencia, actually IN Gandia, the historic quarter, just 5 minutes from the Townhall.  I'm an experienced office worker, 10 years in the UK, I speak English fluently (naturally since I was born there).  My Spanish is improving but I lack confidence for conversation so it would be better (for me) if my clients/employer were bi-lingual.

I qualified in 2008 on the Teaching English as a foreign language course (TEFL) and have been providing one-to-one lessons on both a fee paying and voluntary basis for nearly 3 years.

My dream is to write, I've been putting together short stories and articles most of my life, but I'm still waiting to find a publisher.   Plus I'm a talented amateur artist and would love the opportunity to collaborate on some satirical sketches for newspapers or comic strips.

My apologies now to the moderators if this kind of topic isn't within the rules or there is an existing thread for this, I only registered today and haven't had much chance to get my bearings.

 Hi,

Are you still living in Gandia?

yes I'm still living in Gandia, and I'm available for work (almost) every day throughout the summer and into the next school term.

Like I said in my original post, my experience is mostly working in an office environment, but for the last 4 years I've also been taking one to one English language classes specialising in adults and older teens.

The dream is to get an opportunity to write professionally, factual articles or fiction, but in the meantime I'm willing to try at almost anything legal, from dog walking to delivering advertising brochures to peoples' houses.  At the moment you can't be too picky.

Hi, to be honest it wasn't about work. My dad has moved to Ontinyent which is about 30 mins inland from gandia, he doesn't speak spainish and is having some problems with his house. He really needs to get his septic tank emptied but can only find someone in Alicante to drive up (3 hour return trip) which i think will cost a fortune and wondered as you live in the area if you could offer any advice?
