Does anyone know the name of the shop where I can buy a wire shelf for my oven - I know it has been on a previous thread and the shop is In Vera Town - I looked the last time I was over but had no luck - can anyone help.

There is an electrical shop in Garrucha that sells the extendable shelves for 30€ and they are usually in stock. Can't remember the name but if you come up to the Bouganville roundabout from Puerto Rey (with Depau's on the left) and turn left at that roundabout, about 1 mile on the left is a parade of shops. I think it is a Panasonic or Hitachi dealer.

I noticed that we also did not have any wire shelves in our oven and we were told by the agent that ovens do not come with shelves in Spain.  My spanish friend says that this is not true and she has never bought an oven in Spain without shelves.   Did KM get a cheap job lot,  um i wonder!

The ovens in the apartments on other Al Andalus Resorts do not have shelves either.  We rented an apartment prior to completion on ours and assumed that the absence of a shelf in the oven was to discourage us from using it (maybe to save on the electricity we thought!!).  It wasn't until we got our own apartment that we realised that this was the norm.  Maria at Keymare confirmed that the ovens are supplied without shelves.

They DO have shelves just not the sort that we are used to in the UK.

The shelves are solid, as opposed to wire shelves, not quite what you would expect, but a shelf all the same!

Just wish the microwave wasn't so high! Have to use the step-ladders to use it safely!

Regards,

Lorraine.

Hello Lorraine

We thought that was the drip tray, like the one you get in British ovens.

Don't think they are that sophisticated yet!

Have checked with ovens on sale in the electrical store on the by-pass and whilst some of the more "well-known" brands, zanussi, hotpoint and bosch to name but a few, have got the "wire" trays all the others appear to have "drip-trays".

You will get used to it eventually. Has your oven actually got a "drip-tray" as some people haven't even got one of them? Consider yourself "lucky".

Regards,

Lorraine Braid.

I do have the drip tray at the bottom of the oven and to make do whilst there i did slot this up higher to use as a shelf.  Unfortunatly it is too wide and scratched the oven sides whilst sliding it in and out of the grooves.  This can't possibly be correct and in my opinion i still think wires shelves are missing.

The Dico show-home is due to open soon (just across from Thalassa), so I will go over to the apartment and have a look at their oven set-up.

Don't think I'm doing you a favour........I'm just a nosy cow!

Seem to remember that the other "show-homes" on Lomas Del Mar 1 & 2, only had the same set-up as us, but hopefully I'll be proved wrong.

By the way, if one goes missing..........it wasn't me your Honour!!!

Regards,

Lorraine.

THere are no wire shelves included in the oven as they are extra. Adjutabe shelves are the best option. You can get them from Electrohogar Rodriquez, the electrical shop in the centre of Vera but they were out of stock when I went there so bought mine on the internet.

Has anyone tried the "Electrodomesticos ????" (can't remember rest of name) on side of dual carriageway as you go towards Vera - would be on your left.  They have washing machines and other kitchen appliances in their wndow so maybe they would carry them or know where to source

Why do we sit back and accept that KM SAY the ovens do not come with shelves?
The fact is that this is not a 'cheap' development, so why are they penny pinching?
How are you supposed to use the oven?

If you buy a car, the seats are not an extra.

Grrr

I enquired of the manufactures, the oven type we have got a Corbero HBE Twinsa (not sure if all the same) does not come with a wire shelf, it only comes with the one tray. I asked about purchasing a shelf from them, they do not make a shelf to fit, I was advised to get an adjustable shelf.

I can get one from off the internet for £22, so the €16 one is a bargin.

The electrical appliance shop over the road from Mollies Toy shop in Garrucha has extending wire shelves for €15. They also have the same oven in their shop as we have on AA Resort. I found out after buying this shelf that the residents of Resort "kicked up" to Key Mare about the lack of oven shelves and received a delivery of shelves and grill racks to fit in the tray!! Apparently they are locked in the security lodge with only the President having access. Trying to get access to the President is like trying to meet Lord Lucan!!

Anyway, try and all get together to make a complaint to Key Mare. Mention the precedent set at Resort and see what happens.

Mark
