Ferry booked for the 6th of July !!!

Hi everyone, 

My sister has just phoned to say she has upgraded to Sky+ and the rep forgot to take her old box away. She said would we like to have it for SG. minus the card. Does anyone know if it will work like a digibox and will it pick up any English stations. As we will spend very little time there I don't think we will have a Sky type package. I have heard that you can now buy digiboxes in Spain, does anyone know if you can pick up English channels.

The sky digibox will work in Spain but you will need a rather large dish (about 1.8m) for this area. Cost to supply and install dish only is about 600 Euro.

You will need to buy a viewing card from Sky (about £20) and link it to the digibox here in the UK. This is easy to do as you simply insert it the slot and ring sky to activate it.  You have to do this in this country because you are supposed to use your equipment in the UK only. However, it works fine in Spain.

You can buy a sky digibox in UK for about £100 but in Spain they are about 300 Euros.

Without paying for a sky subscription, you can only get the free to view channels which are roughly the same as what you can get with a freeview box.

On Pete's behalf thanks for the info. Not sure what to do yet. We are both still working and won't be out there that often. I can't see the point in having the normal Sky box and paying out every month when it will not be used. I could always make him learn Spanish...
