Hi all, We are looking to renew our insurance shortly and were wondering if anyone knows what the cover is with the policy provided via Millenium Levente. We were going to use ML last year but were put off by someone in insurance that it has very limited cover,  mainly covering communal areas, ie. if you were to have a flood and caused damage to a property below you were not covered., which obviously is a concern . Has anyone read and understands the mind boggling small print that always comes with these sort of things?

Hi

I was in the same position  lsat month and emailed ML 3 times requesting a copy of the insurance and what is covered.

As I got no response I decided to continue with our current insurers.

Better safe than sorry!

I have had a number of people cancel their buildings & contents insurance with me recently as they say they have cover through their community fees. I understand there is no point in paying twice for something but please make sure you know what is covered... for example are you covered for Earthquake through the Compensation Consortium, does it cover you for robbery outside of the home. Has anyone actually seen the policy wording document - I would be a bit worried that they haven´t answered you emails ... what would happen if there was a claim???

As far as I understood its only buildings insurance and not any contents so anyone cancelling contents as well might be in for a shock.  We changed to contents only insurance just this year.

From what I have read on previous discussions its standard cover but that may not be sufficient for people renting.  I'll probably go in and ask them when I'm in CdA.

I cancelled my buildings insurance this year because the community fees include cover for this. That said I haven't seen the level of cover provided and in the wake of the quake in Lorca I will be checking out the situation for next year - hopefully this thread will reveal the answer from someone like Phil T.

You can also get contents cover as an additional premium through Milenium and the Insurance company is AXA - whom I use for other services are are extremely good. I will be looking to move over next year because this year their quote was about £40 cheaper for the same cover I have through Intasure.

For the first ten years, your Building Insurance is covered under the Builders´Guarantee. This is standard throughout Europe.

You only need to cover your contents.

The builder insurance ONLY covers structural defects for 10 years it will not cover leaks, floods etc so don't rely on that.

The community insurance covers all buildings, both communal and private, so you only need to get content cover.

If there is anyone out there that has made a claim on the communty insurance please see http://naranjosjardine1.wordpress.com/2011/09/13/insurance-repairs/

Is the buildings insurance the same as Builders Guarantee?  The BG covers defects arising from construction and probably isn't worth the paper its written on.  Can't see the contractor returning to fix cracks and the like.

yes, and I agree the chances of getting Polaris in to fix problems is small.  They do come but only if you push like mad.

If your Community insurance covers events such as flooding, earth tremors and subsidence, then you are very lucky.

I would suggest you check your policies though. Normally, these events are covered by the government, not Insurance Companies.

Check the wording on your policy.

I am more than happy to stand corrected if I´m wrong.

Cheers

Have wanted to continue the contents insurance through Milenium and emailed them in August, replied to their generic email last week and have telephoned them without success this morning and two other occasions- no replies to the emails no answer to the telephone calls.

We urgently need to have this sorted now and whilst I will telephone again during the day we are close to going with another company.

Are we just being unliucky or is this also the experience of other forum users?

Take it all back- its been done as a renewable contract. Though as I had emailed almost a month before it was due to start asking for some figures it's still a bit disappointing ML didnt get back to me. However, at least the apartment contents are insured.
