No UK TV

Just arrived yesterday and the TV system is down except for a handful of Spanish channels. Anyone know why? I have reset my WISI box and got the same channels. I seem to remember a communication the other day from ML mentioning some maintenance on the telecommunications system. Will this be the cause?

Mine's ok, the BBC are a bit dodgy but they always are in the morning, ITV C4, e4 all ok

 I know two people now who have had the same problem just this week... It's like its all reset and forgotten everything. Next move?

I will call in at the ML office this morning and see what they say - will post response. Definately something has changed and all the channels have dropped off and the ones that remain have no signal. Might be a block by block problem for the Penthouses.

I saw an email from ML the other day which said that there had been a problem with the signal due to some works which were being carried out but that it should all be up and running again - curious to know whether the channels are back...

We have had problems for a week with signal for TV and internet.

Called at ML office the other day. They knew nothing. I rang polaris telecom and they are coming out tomorrow (Thursday) morning to fix. We´ll see what they come up with but it seems that they are well acquainted with the problem given their response so far. I think whatever has been done maintenance wise to the system has done it as my WISI box is working fine otherwise - it is definatley a signal problem.

Will let you all know how wonderful (or not) Polaris Telecom are when they turn up.

 Great thanks for that. Penthouse 7 has only Spanish channels now... 

As an aside, I am no Electrician but I understand it is best to put anti surge protection on all electrical appliances.

I am an Electrician and that is a wise thing to do especially in Spain which have a system that is not as stable as the UK!

Pleased to say Polaris Telecom turned up on time and were very efficient and helpful today. Fixed the TV channel problem easily. Apparently each block and  jardine has its own telecoms junction box that contains transmitters and relays for the whole network and the one in penthouse block 11 has a fault. The technician seems to think it may be down to the recent maintenance they have been doing on the telecom network system.

However, Polaris fitted two cables when they installed the system, one to act as a reserve. So he just swapped them over and hey presto back up and running again. The cables are accessed in the large white fuse box below your electricity fuse box in your apartment if you need to do the same.

It looked easy but difficult to describe.
