Does anyone has any good cost effective advise when it comes to putting together a furniture package.  When we were out in May (and the weather was dire as well as the atmosphere), we trawled shops and furniture package companies.  We likes what we saw in Inside Right.

Do most residents purchase packages or would you suggest shopping around for the whilte goods, beds etc.  Any recommended sofa, dining, bedding companies?

We are also looking for information on Security Systems as so many appeared to have problems with the one's they had had installed when they began moving in (I forget the name?).

There are quite a few of us who had transfer news yesterday  from SADM project and will need some really good advise.. very soon

Sally

Most of the owners I know have bought packages although we chose to buy everything as individual items.... I'm sure our way would work out less expensive as well as getting everything to your choice,

The packages can be expensive but the great advantage is that it's all done for you...No screwing up lights/ fans etc.,...you just wait for the wagon and let the guys in... what I have seen, they are professional and have you sat in the sun with a beer in no time !!.

Incidently most firms allow for fitting if you purchase equipment from them.

Wouldn't worry about the security just yet as you get a long (almost free) period when you move in..

Hi Sally - I went with a package but it was very expensive - I'm sure there are cheaper ones available but it was good to fly out and find that the lights were all installed - with bulbs too - and  curtains up, cooker and fridge working etc.  In Spain you don't get any light fittings installed so if you are doing it yourself then be prepared for that.

Since I moved out permanently I have spent a fortune changing things that were good enough for renting out but not to my taste as my home.  I think it depends how much influence you want on the choice of goods as well as how much time you have and how much you have to spend.  There is also an Ikea in Murcia which is a fairly easy drive from here.  I have ordered a really nice leather sofa from Sofaland (made in the UK) but there can be a wait if you want a particular model and colour.

As Freddy said, don't worry about the Securitas system at the beginning - you get 9 months at the cheap rate.

Hope all the transfers go ahead for you all - how about a party when you all move in??

Hi Claire, Isnt that strange I had a Sofaland brochure in the post yesterday and wondered if you could get them in Spain!  I know what you mean with the packages being pricey.  We went to a bed shop in Cabo and they seemed to have some good prices (and comfy beds ), and Ikea sounds like a good point of call for all the bits.  My partner, Martin, is well prepared to be travelling with a drill (bought him one specially for his birthday - he he).   I may let out now and again for close and trustworthies etc but want to furnish with reasonable quality.  I have a fab grandson (I was a young nan!)  and cant wait to bring him out - love him to bits and he's 6 in August)..

Where abouts are you living?  You sound very content living in Spain.  We're not quite ready with a little business here etc but I can get over quite easily every 5/6 weeks for 4/5 days at a time .  Martin's job is a little different with holidays but we'll get out as often as we can.

After reading and ranting on the SADM forum that the Administrators /SJ presidents et al are now cosy with clients having lunch etc, im sure this has helped all of those who want to transfer more.Lets just hope the Judge(s) can be influenced as well to give the final go ahead..

We LOVE a good party!  just cant wait to meet all you guys

Sal

Hi Sal - I'm in Playa Golf II - just next to PGIII.  I've been here about 2 months now and love it though am struggling a bit this week with the heat.  Makes you very lazy!

You will definately need that drill - the walls in these houses are poured concrete and you cannot put a nail or screw in without a masonary drill and rawplugs.   Next time you're over do drop in for a wee glass of cava - send me a PM when you're coming and I'll give you my address and mobile number.

Keeping those fingers crossed for you!

Hi Folks,
I am also in PG II and have had my place for a couple of years now . Unfortunately I don't live here but I get across as often as I can.  For those guys transferring from Sant Ana, II hope your transfers go quickly and smoothly - I am sure you will love it in Playa Golf.
As for furniture packages, I can only echo what Claire says. If you want the convenience of having everything fitted and installed, ready for you to walk in, then go for a furniture package. You can always change out items over time if they are not absolutely to your taste. That's what we have done, and IKEA has played a big part in this. Two of the most common providers of furniture packs in Playa Golf sem to be Arca Mobilaria (they have a website) and Hnos Garcia in Torrevieja. Both supply and fit everything you need.
On the other hand, if you want to do everything yourselves, you will probably get exactly what you want but be be ready for some DIY as you will be walking into an empty house with wires sticking out of the ceiling (no lights).
I think you know what my advice would be...

Anyway, welcome to Playa Golf when you eventually get here, and hope we can meet up for a beer sometome.

regards
Tom (& Frances)

Thanks greatly Tom and all.  It maybe wise for us to organise at least beds/sofa and lighting before we come over.  We've seen inside the property a few times and saw the wire hanging... small price to pay.. lets just hope the Judges sit before August and we can get this done and dusted.  Its been a long struggle  (still not over with as you know) and quite a difficult decision to transfer but based on solid legal advise.  Its not that we think Jumilia wont be built (eventually), but having looked at the facilities and met some of the lovely people on Playa.. so long the Judge(s) approve it.. that's the route we shall take now..

Its been an immense stress for us and many many others waiting to hear that it was okayed by the Administrators.. now we wait a little longer..

Appreciate your help
