Hello all on Playa Golf III,

Ive posted a message on the main Eye On Spain board about buying on Playa Golf III.

We have put a deposit on a property at Santa Ana Del Monte, Jumilla. The development is not going ahead at the moment as San Jose are having problems with the licences.

We have been offered the chance to exchange the Azucena we were going to buy , for a one at Playa Golf III and pay the price difference.

I would really like to know a little more about the community from the residents point of view... is there much crime, is there a nice sense of community, are there many unsold houses ? anything that would help us to make a decision.

Thanks. Myra and Davy.

Hi Myra,

Playa Golf is a new but up and coming development. We have several bars and restaurants open and an Aldi on the urbanisation and more supermarkets very close. There are also English shops and a Spanish Deli, if that’s what you like.

Have a look at our Blog; it was set up by Barry, one of the residents on R3

http://playagolf3-lomasdecaboroig.blogspot.com/

Playa Golf is about 5 minutes from some wonderful beaches, very close to 3 golf courses and lots of entertainment on the strip (this is a stretch of the N332 that runs by Playa Golf), and a short drive from Playa Flamenca and Villamartin.

I recommend that you visit us, have a drink in one of the bars and walk around the urbanisation and talk to the residents, as they are very friendly.

Hope this helps.

Sping.

Hi Myra & Davy - I have an Azucena in Playa Golf II and agree with Sping - the area seems to be shaping up well.  I would suggest that you rent here for a week or so to get the feel of the place before making your decision.  It will be very different to Jumilla but it is set back a bit from the coast if you are looking for something not too noisy or busy.

If you do decide to come to Playa Golf then I would suggest you haggle a bit over price - there are lots for sale on PGII at a major discount - I've seen one for sale at 160,000 euros.  Again, if you stayed here for a while you could research this for yourself.  San Jose still have some properties to sell so I think it would be worth a try!

All the best!

ps Sping - loved the blog - hope you don't mind a PGII person checking it out from time to time!

Hi, Sping and Claire T,

Thank you both for your helpful advice,  we have taken everything you have said on board and have booked flights in March to have a good look around.

Sping, we really enjoyed the blog, it looks as though you have a nice community there and having shops, bars etc is always helpful.  I hope the sun will be shining when we have a drink at the Irish bar!

Thanks again. Myra & Davy.

Hi Guys,

We have also bought in Jumilla and are looking to see if we can swap for another SJ property. We stayed in Cabo Roig for 8 weeks last summer and drove by Playa Golf several times.

We did notice a bad sewage smell as we drove by. Is that still an issue?

My wife is heading down this week to have a look at some places.

Thanks

Dave & Tina

Hi Dave & Tina - I remember there was a post last year about a sewage smell but there has been nothing recent.  I have only visited for a few days at a time and there has never been a problem - however, I haven't been out in the heat of the summer.  Am moving out permanently in 5 weeks so am hoping that the problem has been resolved!

There don't seem to be many people posting from the development anymore but I hope someone can give you more up to date information.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Hi Everyone, I’m sorry to say that when the wind is in the wrong direction there is still a bit of a whiff, although we have not noticed it as much on our last two trips. We might be getting use to it! I will ask some of the permanent residents if the smell is still as bad as it was.

Just to confirm, the permanent residents have told me that the smell from the sewerage farm is still there and is dependent on the direction of the wind.

Hi Sping - I read that they are going to do work at La Zania sewage treatment works - do you know if this is this where the smell originates or is is totally different?

Hi Claire,

The offending sewerage works are opposite the commercial centre where the Aldi store is. It’s down in the dip on the other side of the road, this area is Lomas de Cabo Roig. The problem at La Zenia seems to be that the sewers can not cope with the volume of the content and so spill out onto the roads and the beach. Have a look at the free news papers.
