Has anyone had anything definate on the outside lights. We thought Polaris would be providing them, then the news was they wont and then that they would. Has anyone who has completed recently got a definitive on this?

We're trying to do a budget for various things and given that our first light budget was four interior lights short those extra three outside would almost double what we thought we might have to spend. Mind you, I had sort of gone a bit beserk with fancy spot light fitments!

Am really hogging the forum today!!  No they are not included.  I was there to complete and took pictures of the bare wires hanging out of the wall outside.  Looks like we have to get our own.

The outside light fittings are definately not there,so will be putting our own up and if Polaris are not happy with what we put up then they will have to replace them for us!!!
Don't know why they have put 2 lights in the bedrooms?
We were thinking of putting ceiling fans up in the bedrooms but will have to re- think on that one!

Can you not get one of the fittings blocked off if not in use like you can here, I know in my house here I wanted ceiling fans in bedrooms and the electrician just blocked them off somehow and plastered over them ?  Just a thought if they are not neccessary !

Carol

I see where your coming from.  I personally wouldnt be all that bothered about things not being central, sometimes it adds to character, but yes it can make a difference to some.

Hi Carol

I agree with you about it may look OK not being in the centre with a light, but like Pam we had intended to have a ceiling fan in the bedrooms which I think would look odd not being in the centre and would look daft having 2 in comparatively small room.

Phil

Hi Phil
Why do you want ceiling fans when you are having air con fitted? Dont you think it will be a waste of money having both? At home we have ceiling fans in the living room and dining room and they do the job fine, but in a very hot climate air con is essential. Still not heard anything official about completion (jardin 5 ) Solicitor was on saying Parador was expecting to complete ALL jardin 5 by 14th August. Told her no way as the funds will not be in place until EARLIEST Sept 30th and when we signed it was to be Dec. (But at that time we had two pools and a shopping centre) Should have bought a caravan in Tenby (less hassle)

Good Luck to fellow condadors on Jardin 5 who are completing

HI Dave & Lynn

Short answer is fans are cheaper to run when its worm and save the air con for when its mad hot, also fans would be more comfortable at night keeping the air moving.

PS. I think your computer has developed a stammer or are you still on the boat and also doing something to rock the boat?

Phil

Cannot remember how these lights are placed are they 1 by the wardrobe and 1 by the window or 1 by the headboard and the other by the far wall?

If they are headboard and far wall position I suppose that would look less odd if one is a light and the other a fan.

Pity about the ouside lights, I didnt mind the terracota version and rather liked the uniformity. However will now use the opportunity to put our own mark. Maybe we should all source something weird and wonderful just to make a point!!

Just a query LRJ- can you delay completion? This came up ages ago when we all first realised it was all going ahead sooner than expected but the general consensus was that you cant delay the completion. Were we wrong?

We too thought it strange that they had put wiring for two lights in each bedroom - not as if they are big bedrooms!  My recollection when we were doing our snagging was that they both lights were to one end of the room, not central, and were side by side - one nearer to the window and one nearer to the wardrobe.

Can't believe how many light fittings we need to buy for such a small apartment - the lounge/dining/kitchen area needs 4 lights - plus one in the hallway leading to the bedrooms/bathroom.  We counted that we needed ten lights for inside plus three external lights.  PW seem to have gone mad with the wiring!  Pity they didn't cut down on the lights and give us a vanity unit in the bathroom and drawers in the wardrobes!

I've just done a search on Google for Gargoyle lights and found some very taste full web sites with lights, (Gargoyles, Skulls, bats and even some wild life Cats, Wolfs), I think we should fire some e-mails to PW with this and see what they say, just tell them that we want all the the lights outside to be simillar so we are going to have different themes for each garden, as we are on Jardin 13 I think we should go with the gargoyles.

Would do you think

Paul.

Sorry, I went off thread with my query to LRJ about completions- forgot.

In relation to the lights are there also two in the bathroom? If so that makes 11 in total inside without any additional standard lights or bedside lights and either way 10 or 11 is a lot in a relatively compact apartment- and then there are three outside. That solar panel idea is looking better and better.

I was thinking of something like those flaming torches you see in movies about Vikings! That could be the theme for Jardine 8

OH yes!!!! What a great theme.
I love the thought of having flaming torch lights outside my door.
We're in jardin 8 too, I was hoping for the terracotta lights but never mind, more shopping to do I guess.
