There are always loads of people fishing along Mojacar beach & also along the beaches through Villaricos.

John at the Beachcomber also runs boat trips for sea fishing.

I've read on a forum somewhere that you need a licence for beach fishing - think it was on Viva Almeria. Not sure where you get one (licence) from though.

You could try the general forum on this site, someone outside Thalassa  may be able to help you.

This website gives details of permits required & how to obtain them.

Just had a look at the site on the link and it is very ambiguous.  I have just renewed my licence and it was a piece of cake.  I went to the fishing tackle shop in Villaricos (if it is shut he is usually in his mother's supermarket a few doors away, the one that sells the radio controlled boats, 'planes etc).  You need to take a copy of your passport with you.  It takes between 7 and 10 days to come through and costs 14 euros, this covers his costs to Almeria.  The licence then lasts for 3 years.  Unfortunately this may not help you this visit but you have it then for future visits.  I would be willing to collect the licence for you if you have gone home.  Just make sure you don't go fishing without a licence as the Policia Local do patrol the beaches and ask for licences, there is an on the spot fine and confiscation of fishing gear should you not have a licence.
