having read Noreen's summation of the community meeting and in reference to the allowable 1 sat dish per block serving upto 12 units at a cost of Euro 1600

block 9 has 12 units and this is a general invite to those owners in block 9 to persue Luis at Seasun for a firm quote - some of you i have already been in contact with so apologies for duplicated information

please PM me if you are interested

regards

andy

What happens if some blocks already have dishes installed feeding 4 apartments? Will they be asked to have them removed? If not will this preclude anyone else from having dishes installed?

How does that work then? Each dish can only have a maximum of 8 feeds from it, but the octo lnb's are unreliable at best, with the best results from quad lnb's. Does this mean you are going to install the one dish with a splitter at roof level which is where the increased cost comes from?

We have 3 dishes on the roof of our block, but you can't see them from ground level, therefore are not a problem.

I also cannot see how this can work.  I remember a previous thread in which it was mentioned that any more than 4 inputs will deteriorate  the picture considerably.   Also, this is assuming 12 people will want sky installed in one particular block.   Given that the majority of owners are spanish getting 12 people in one block seems  a tad unrealistic

It may take time for the feeds to be used up. When we bought on Resort, it was over one year old. One dish had the full complement of feeds, I took the last feed on another and the 3rd still had a couple of feeds left. I just chose the one closest to our apartment (top floor luckily) to ensure te shortest (cheapest) cable run. If you have your own dish on the roof, don't forget to have it marked so that anyone requiring a feed can contact you!! We just connected ours and found the owner afterwards....

Some blocks have 16 units (including duplexes) and I know of one that has 24.  In our block (16 units) so far I have already been able to identify 7 English speakers.  Of the remaining units, I know that 2 are Spanish and one unit is unsold.  The other 6 I am not sure about but if they all want Sky we already have one person too many (assuming 12 to a dish is feasible, I had always thought maximum was 8).  Who is going to be the unlucky one I wonder or are KM going to have to accept that it will be very difficult to sell to a UK buyer and leave it unsold?  That lost revenue alone would probably fund the installation for the whole site!

It would seem to me that at least two dishes will be required per block and we should not expect people to take any dishes down until this has been agreed.  So long as they are discretely placed on the roof and can barely be viewed from ground level, what is the problem?

As far as the logistics of trying to track your neighbours are concerned, this is a nightmare and will take ages to resolve.  Key Mare should have made provision for this right from the start rather than leave it down to individuals.

In the Community Meeting notes that I sent out yesterday, I did state that if more than 12 units in a block require satellite TV then permission will be given for 2 dishes to be installed.

You are not being asked to track down your neighbours. As the notes state, anyone interested in having satellite TV should email Luis at Seasun. He will then be able to coordinate how many people in a block require the satellite & apportion the cost appropriately.

The Spanish also have an issue with the TV reception at Thalassa so it may well be that they are just as interested in having satellite channels available.

Chappym, part of the problem is that many owners have done exactly as you say & have installed the dishes discreetly, however, there are many more who haven't been as considerate. I think what people also need to realise is that although you may think the dishes cannot be seen, some of the blocks are very high & in fact the dishes are very visible even when installed in roof spaces.

As I understand the situation, the company that has been consulted has said that 12 connections are possible. Maybe that is a question that needs to be put to Luis when providing him with your details stating your interest in having satellite tv. If you have already installed a dish & have a number of feeds coming of it already, it may be worthwhile asking Luis if the cost can be reduced by using & adapting the one already installed.

I don't know the answers I am afraid but the above might be a good starting point.

If anyone hasn't seen a copy of the meeting notes, send me a PM or email me & I will forward you a copy.

Regards

Noreen

Thanks Noreen for clarifying things,

I have seen your notes which are very comprehensive.  Thanks again for your efforts.  Looks like in all it was a good meeting.

Yes it was far better than the last one. (couldn't have been worse!!)

I know it is frustrating that we didn't get all the issues voted on but I think unless people actually experience one of these marathons, you don't realise how intense they are & how many questions are actually asked. Every question is translated into either Spanish or English & then the same with the reply, so it takes forever.

I have to say that Monica did an absolutely brilliant job as she had the microphone for pretty much the whole meeting. When you also consider that Spanish is not her 1st language (Catalan is), her ability to switch between Spanish & English is incredible.

Regards

Noreen

we and many others I'm sure would like to thank Noreen and Monica for all their time and effort they have put not just answering questions on the forum but at the meeting.  We attended this 2nd meeting and after sitting for nearly 5 hours am glad to say that a few issues were voted on and passed as Noreen says it does take a lot of time as everything is translated from English to Spanish and Spanish to English needless to say Monica did a great job, thankyou.

Would especially like to say a big thankyou to Noreen for getting the  minutes of the meeting out so quickly .

Perhaps the 3rd meeting will achieve more than the last two we can live in hope.

Jayne & Alan

Thank you for your kind comments Jayne.

At least this meeting did achieve quite a bit more than the first & hopefully the September/October one will do the same.

I only get the notes out so quickly as my ability to decipher my scribbled notes decreases as time goes by.

Regards

Noreen
