My thoughts and experiences on living in Spain

Worried about losing your passport in Spain, advise from David Rowe Spain.
Wednesday, July 23, 2014

Worried about losing your passport? Carry a stamped photocopy and keep the original in a safe place. Here's how.

1) Take your original passport and a photocopy to any National or Civil Guard police station.
2) Ask for a stamped copy (copia compulsada)
3) Carry the stamped photocopy with you and leave your original passport in a safe place.

This is part of the Spanish police's "Operación Verano" and runs during summer months only.

Monday, July 21, 2014

Just found this useful info:

Good to know...

If you have guests from the UK who need to see a doctor in Spain but have lost or forgotten their EHIC (or if it has expired or been stolen), they can call the Overseas Healthcare Team (OHT) on 0044 191 219 1999 and request a Provisional Replacement Certificate (PRC).

Missing Out, by David Rowe Spain
Tuesday, July 1, 2014

Over my morning cuppa I have been going through the news on the internet, after a google of Mijas Costa i read the article in the Olive Press on the Protest against oil drilling off Mijas Costa.

I wish i would of picked up the paper last week as I would of also gone to protest, it has shown me that i do need to get back into the habit of picking up the local newspapaers and reading them. I feel i could be missing out....!

The Article:

PROTESTERS will gather in Fuengirola next weekend to raise their voices against the hunt for oil and gas on the coast.

Spanish oil company Repsol is due to start prospecting off the coast of Mijas in February 2015, but the plans – approved by the Spanish government in 2004 – have been met with outrage.

As part of the exploration, a semi-submersible platform will be located just eight kilometres off the beach by the Faro de Calaburras lighthouse in Mijas Costa, 12km southwest of Fuengirola.

To join the protest, meet on Saturday June 28 at 12pm, on Fuengirola’s paseo maritimo, next to the chiringuito Las Caracolas.
