Getting confirmation in wirting

One thing I have noticed in Spain is when dealing with banks or lawyers if you try to get them to confirm what you have discussed in wiriting it seems to be impossible.
After a recent discussion with a bank director I asked for written confirmation after chasing for 2 weeks it never arrived, when I then visited again and discussed your conversation his reply was "sorry I cat recall!"
ho hum at least the sun is shinning.
