Just spied elsewhere ........................posted Thu Aug 07, 2008 5:51 pm.

 You have been advised !!

"I noticed on Tuesday that they seem to be tightening up again, at least on flights out of San Javier. Both Jet2 and Ryanair were announcing repeatedly "one piece of hand baggage only" and Ryanair actually added "and that includes ladies handbags and any items you have bought at the duty free shop". Everything has to be packed into one bag only before you are allowed to board the aircraft.

On my previous two flights this year, once I have cleared Security I have been able to take my handbag out of my small 'weekend' case and take it on board separately. Bit tough on people who try to load up with bottles and cigarettes at the airport. "

what idiot would fly with that money grabbing so and so.

if you get on at stanstead, luton is at most 1 hour away and takes monarch and easy jet.

birmingham and east mids have easy jet

monarch fly from birmingham,, manchester and gatwick

grow up and realise what type of company ryanair are - you frankly have to be desperate to go with them. when you add the whole bill together they are more expensive, there planes are plans and decrepid, half the staff cant help you in english. and finally if they all follows michaels advice smell revolting as he cannot see the need to take a change of clothes or shower gel

WHOH..  Alamred, was there REALLY any need for ALL of THAT ?

I was telling others this is happening at San javier to warn them, ok ??. If they get to Murcia & find they've got too much to take on board imagine the scenario. As Ryanair & Jet2 are doing it, Easyjet & other airlines may likely also follow suit.

If YOU don't want to fly with Ryanair that's your perogative but many do want to. It's nothing to do with you, you fly with whoever you choose & let others fly with their choice.

It wasn't just Ryanair either if you read my post. It was also Jet 2.

Seeing as you've just sent me a PM thanking me for the excellent source of knowledge regarding my SUMA posts I'm truly amazed you posted this & you are posting against forum rules too.

"do not use the forums to complain about companies", " This is not the place to vent your anger"

We found that Ryanair are very deceiving!to say the least, aside from the fact that after you get the price of your flight? you then have options for your baggage? so when we flew out we had baggage one way, but having checked all their clauses!!!!!!!!!!!! and having decided we could have 2 holdalls up to 15 kg? (as each one weighed exactly 7.5kg) only to find ourselves paying double for the "excess" bag??as they decided at the airport that 2 holdalls of 7.5 kg were the equivelent of 2 pieces? other than one combined piece?, but had I thought sooner and got a luggage belt and tied both together? then? what could they have done?? certainly not charged us £16 for excess baggage! especiallly when the total weight was under 15 kg per person???? Just a BIG word of warning, don't do what we did?BUT that is only 1 company!

Sorry but I disagree with you, Mags, it's clear enough if you look here in their baggage info.

Checked Baggage Fees* - (Each passenger is permitted to check-in up to 3 bags with a maximum combined weight of 15kgs)

1st Bag – Per bag/ Per One Way Flight  £8 / 10€ Booked on www.ryanair.com

2nd & 3rd Bag – Per bag/ Per One Way Flight £16 / 20€ Booked on www.ryanair.com

Taken from HERE

They charged you £16 & they had said they'd do that. Yes, you could've tied them together but to blame Ryanair for your fault isn't right.

Alamred - once I got past the first line your post is quite amusing especially the last bit where you were having a dig at the hand luggage only.

and finally if all the passengers follows michaels advice they smell revolting as he cannot see the need to take a change of clothes or shower gel.

Personally I wouldn't use Ryanair but then as I travel from Stanstead I do have a choice of airlines, others don't and have to use Jet2 and Ryanair.   Both airlines have extortionate charges hidden from view until booking commences.

MagsB - You're not the first to be caught out with Ryanair and no doubt won't be the last.  Lots of people have commented on this change in their rules as before they have combined luggage allowance into one bag ( especially if your a mother travelling alone with children)

Websites have been changed as well as they weren't too clear at the beginning, I notice that EasyJet is now more explicit in the extra bag charge as many people thought they were entitled to an extra 20kgs of luggage allowance.

I thought they were saying that they were waivering the luggage excess if some people found it easier to take two smaller bags or was that just EasyJet.

There's so much information going on that sometimes it's easy to get confused and it's galling to arrive at the check-in desk (which you've paid extra fee to use) to find the agent inflexible with someone's misunderstanding of the reams of info given out.

Last time I used Ryanair there were 8 pages!

Miguelcarr - sorry you feel that way about posting on here as everyones opinion is valued.  That's why these forums are valued so much, everyone helping others to avoid making expensive mistakes.  No one should feel belittled because they have made a mistake but by telling others it's helping.  Maybe I've been reading these forums for too long as I actually wince when someone writes in capitals and can hear them shouting.  Don't know if anyone else feels the same.

I also quite like to see the odd spelling mistake, it not only makes me feel better when I post but makes the post more interesting to read and makes me smile.

But then I'm old and have time on my hands.  Put out to grass early and loving it

Miguelcarr, anyone has the right to opinions, it's the lies & the slating firms when it's your own fault I object to.  (Thought you weren't posting again after your last outburst anyway !) It's not a few weeks go that you were thanking me, make your mind up. Justin gave me the superstar status & I've asked him to remove it previously. If I didn't post as much info as I do others would never get to know certain things &, contrary to what you & a few others feel, there are many who value my input & tell me many times. I'm going out now so enjoy the forum. You are just darnright rude !!
