Hi Claire,

You may remember we were talking about various options on an earlier thread. I have looked into starting some kind of service up in my area, but there are already several companies offering care services. There seems to be no doubt that there is a need for services directed at the British elderly, however many people are very reluctant to pay for it.  In my area, it seems that a lot of people who may need help, get it from neighbours or friends, or wait until their family come across to visit. I like you have found completely different work, I work for an estate agent, who I have to say is excellent and I am really enjoying it. I would be very interested to know if you have researched this area, and what you findings are.

Barbara

There are several Nursing care agencies in this ara, but at 20  (approx )euros an hour, not many expats on modest incomes will be willing or able to pay it. Some Spanish people offer care in the home services for less but then there is the question of qualificationns, insurance etc. I'm sure it is one of the reasons people go back to UK.

There is a need for these services in the home, especially for stroke and dementia patients, but it has to be affordable.
