Calais to Calahonda

We are driving from Calais to Calahonda as a trial run for later on in the year when we drive over with our dogs. We are planning one overnight stop once we cross the border into Spain - does anyone have any advise on where to stay? I know most Ibis hotels are dog friendly so would like to try one of these even though the dogs are not on the trial run.
Also any advice would be welcomed!

It depends on which route you use.
I always stay at the Ibis Hotel in Zaragoza after crossing the Pyrenees from Pau. It's right in the City centre by the river with wonderful views of the Basilica. You can then walk your dogs from the hotel along the river path and the parks.

Mission completed. We stayed in an Ibis hotel in Iruna - dog friendly and a five minute drive from the beach. We found the drive not as bad as expected. Ibis hotel was a helpful suggestion thank you
