Invalid email address

Tried to send a member a PM but all I got was "invalid email address"
Does it mean the member has deactivated account, banned or can any member block receiving PM's by this method

I asked the moderator that question some time ago.
He said, "Whenever you see that message it means they haven't confirmed their email address ( a second time ie. its changed from the original that was used to open the account) and in the meantime they can't send or receive PMs., "
