I have to say that this post was originally about illegal squatters in Spanish community properties and has now gone completely off course by quoting English laws and websites so I would ask that it is brought back to the original content of the post.

Thanking all in advance.

It is so true that people have been despairing about the viscious circle of squatters taking over a person´s home in Spain and nothing can be done about it and taking a really long time through legal channels to get them out.

A result of this is that companies have started to be set up aimed at "discouraging" the squatters from staying and "encouraging" them to move out.  Some of the companies have ex-military Eastern Bloc employees that certainly look the part.

Perhaps well worth the fee!!

The only problem with these companies is that they charge a large fee to negotiate the sqatters leaving and then apperently quickly move more sqatters in so that you have to start all over again.

The only way is the legal way!

Don´t know all the ins and outs of this.    Only what I have seen on the documentaries shown on Spanish TV.    These companies (but perhaps not all)   do operate "just" inside of the law, and had many satisfied clients being interviewed.after satisfactory resolution of their squatter problem.   But these were just one home cases, not multi-occupancy in different apartments spread throughout  a  block of flats.

I'm surprised that banks should have it so easy to evict people who have temporarily fallen into arrears with their mortgage payments, but wholly illegal occupupation by squatters is so much more difficult to prevent.

Amogles, I am sad to say that the Spanish (banks) don't treat their own very well at all. When the crisis hit back in

2009? The banks started demanding evictions on anyone who was a few months in arrers. These poor people had no jobs (due to c**p way the govt run the country/high unemployment rates - which still exists today) and people were literally throwing themselves out of their apartment windows as they were about to be thrown on the street and had nohwere to go. It got so bad the govt did step in in the end and got the banks to agree slower/lower re-payments for these poor people.
