Hi, has anyone recently used Europocar? We have a car booked with them through dys and were quoted a good price, but have heard so many stories about people arriving and the car hire company adding multiple extras driving the cost of the car hire up I want to be sure of what it will cost.

I know we will have to pay for fuel and extra driver insurance (8euro + per day with Europocar). Any experiences good or bad would be most helpful.

Thanks

Regards

Tricia

Assuming you're hiring in Spain the additional charges will be a full tank of fuel about 60Euro (bring back empty) and at the same time you'll be asked if you want no excess insurance 8 Euro per day which means you can total the car at no charge.

By far the most expensive additional charge is insurance.

If hiring for 7 days or more you may wish to take out no excess cover with one of many insurance agencies shown on the net. For about 50 quid you can cover yourself for a whole year for less than 60 quid.

Yes we are hiring in Spain and we have been offered the car on a full/full basis. We do have our own insurance for excess, so the price quoted should be the price paid on arrival. Do you know if  they take a security deposit on your credit card?

Thanks

Yes, the hire company will require a deposit of approx 300 Euro or more (charged to your card) to be credited back when you return the (undamaged) car.

If you take out insurance from the hirer then, I believe, a deposit is not required.

Car hire requires a credit card. No card, no hire. Its an unjust world.
