ADVICE FOR A BANK

Just arrived in torremolinos and looking for a reasonable bank and branch with some English speaking staff, preferably not in financial difficulties.

Harry, there have been many threads about banks all with helpful advice, thequestion comes up very frequently.  May I suggest you search the index and then ask any specific question you may have have.

Haha.  That limits you to BBVA, Santander and Barclays then.

 having a uk account tried to open one with santander they demanded refererences from the uk branch perhaps they dont have phones or email

then barclays went there needed to make small deposit to open account went to their cash machine which wouldnt accenpt a barclays card so gave up so dont hold your breath

Ive had three account's with santander and i've never been asked for references from the uk , all i showed was my passport , nie and residencia and contract for my appartment then opened it with 20 euros , think it could be a case of someone making your life difficult in the branch , Are you asking just for a normal current account or for credit cards as well ?

mind you in the uk we find them pretty useless so no loss

we are with lloyds bank international, formerly banco halifax,

all staff have to speak english we have found them to be very good

we have debit cards no charge also pay standing orders every month no charge

depends what account you have

do not know if there is a branch in your area as we are in murcia province

Or the biggest domestic bank in Spain now, Caixabank !
