Endesa our electricity supplier have taken two payments out 3 days apart has anyone else noticed this

Any IDEAS as to why

Our electric bill is 1233 euros per year and we pay MONTHLY this is our only form of UTILITY ie no gas and thats for 200 days usage

Is ELECTRICITY EXPENSIVE generally in SPAIN

Electric is expensive in Spain although in theory it should be coming down as the market has recently been opened up.  We were offered a 15% discount by Endesa to stay with them so obviously, we said yes please!

With regards to them taking two payments out of your account, I can't say I've ever had that problem.  Have you received the actual bills through the post?

Justin

Well we are with Iberdrola and on the Costa Blanca (North). Our yearly electric bills since 2005 have been 740,794,771,810,1020,1172,1068. It illustrates three aspects - the older you get the warmer you need it (true); the weather has been getting worse across the years (doubtful by experience); the company has upped the prices (true!). We are full time residents. We have gas hob but everything else is electric. The house is built of stone with 500m thick walls, and this accounts for something. We ha ve no central heating.

As to duplicate bills - refudiate the second payment from the bank (if you are in time).

Alot of people have trouble calling Endesa with enquiries because of the language problem.  The best thing is to register online with Endesa and then you can see the invoices before they're actually charged to your account (they send you an email each month to let you know that the invoice is available).  This service is massively helpful for people who don't actually receive their post (of which there are many!!)  You can usually reject a direct debit from your bank if you let them know within 7 days.

I guess we are high because RENTORS use a lot more than HOMEOWNERS

But its GOOD to know competition is entrring the marketplace

Justin I will contact endesa and see what they say
