FAST intend to provide a service to Camposol residents that will help bridge any gap between calling 112 for serious medical emergencies (such as cardiac arrest major bleeds or unconsciousness) and the arrival of professional help by providing a separate telephone number that will be staffed by volunteers 24/7 who will respond as FAST as possible to the location of the casualty and then provide basic first aid and defibrillation as well as moral support for the spouse or partner at such a difficult time.

All Committee members have now taken their first First Aid Training in Spain with the Red Cross and we are now ready to commence selection of volunteers to run the service, swiftly to be followed by further training for all involved. However, this can only work if we can get sufficient people to volunteer their time to take on call out duties.

The public meetings for people interested in becoming FAST volunteers are 28 Feb and 07 Mar, upstairs in Trevi’s Bar , Camposol Commercial Sector B, 1330hrs.

Applicants should be in good health and physically fit,

Able to work as part of a reliable team,

Have a full driving license and access to a legal and roadworthy vehicle whilst in duty.

Successful applicants will receive First Aid Training completed by The Red Cross and will need to pass all courses that will be arrange for them, starting with the basics and then building upon that.

This is a pioneering venture here in Spain and something we could not only be proud of but the thought of helping to save even just one life would make it all worthwhile.

Whilst FAST is a volunteer service and will be free to all Camposol residents. We will have some operating costs to cover so we will soon be asking for some donations from The Public, Organisations and Businesses in order to fund the relatively small operating costs. Anyone who wishes to contribute to this should contact us on fastcamposol@hotmail.com or look out for our collecting tins and buckets at strategic points in Camposol in the future

And finally, Many thanks to our media partners and volunteers who are helping to spread the word about FAST.

Many Thanks, Glen Ford
