There were a couple of flyers under the door last time I got there for property rentals. One was from Jimena Homes who have a banner up at one of the flats. They now seem to have a website up and running, their web address is http://jimenahomecare.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk

Well my husband and son are back and were pleased with the apartment and said that there were even bulb holders in some rooms! and that was after i had gone on a specialist website to find the spanish for bulb holder so that they could ask for them in a shop - portalampara by the way if you havent got them and bulbs are bombillas.

electricity was on and they picked up a gas bottle as the solicitor ahd set up a contract and it just needed signing. few people were aroud and elena - what a dull job she has - said that most apartments had been bought for investment, anyway there were some men sorting out the pool and the main road complete with palm trees looked good. shall sort out snagging when i goin 2 weeks. they took some photos but most views are already on this site but have attached a couple.

We are moving our furniture into our apartment in block two this Sunday 3rd through to Wednesday 6th. If there is anybody around I would love to meet some of my fellow owners. If you are going to be around then keep an eye out for me and my family, who are helping me move my stuff in Sunday/ Monday, and come say hello. I will post upon my return to let everyone know how I get on. I have had a family member (who lives in Spain) collect my keys and documents which he tells me run to lots of pages and lots of keys. Most of the documents are an apartment user manual which is of course in Spanish, however Manzanares (my Spanish Lawyer) has informed me that a fully translated English version shold be sent in the post. All very exciting after years of will it happen or wont it happen.

Well we have arrived back in the UK after a mad 3 days furnishing our apartment in block 2. I have to say that I am impressed with the development and my apartment. I have uploaded some pics to show what we have done in Jimena (black & white sorry). One thing that I was suprised by was the television, I plugged in the T.V  - it went through its set up and found around 14 channells, all Spanish but over the road on that little football pitch  two teams were playing football which was being broadcast at the same time. The pool was still being cleaned by two guys so will probably be up and running soon. The lifts and car parking  were not operational but I think this is due to not enough community contributions being paid, this will get better as people come on line. Any questions I can answer I will be delighted to do so. I have uploaded a web site (which still needs some work) which is there to help me rent out the apartment, if anybody wants to list their apartment on the site then let me know, we may be able to do somthing. Anyway its www.executive-voyager.com .

Just curious how did you furnish it - some ideas were rent a van and go to Ikea  but I would be interested to hear how you did this?

Also is there a rep from Arenal still onsite there as Elena is not answering any of my emails as I wanted to check if my electricity had been turned on ?

I spoke to Elena yesterday so as far as I understand she is there.

I still haven't signed but wanted to ask you guy what mortgage deal you got????? A Spanish bank is offering me Euribor + 0.75 but not suer if that is good of not? Did anyone go for the mortgage with UNICAJA???? What's their interest rate?

Also......those of you who have already done the snagging..... do you have to be in the flat when they come round to fix things? I understand the keep a set of keys for a while, do they just come in and fix things????

Thanks for your responses.

Jesus.

To furnish the place I went to a number of shops around Malaga and bought all I needed, I have a relative up there and I stored all the furniture in their garage. When I had everything that I needed I hired a man with a van who helped me load his van and trailer, we then drove down to Jimena where he helped me unload into the apartment. My father and mother then helped me to put everything in place and fit light fittings. Bathroom accessories etc, this took three days very hard work.

Regarding rep onsite, Elena is still there in her little hut, she says she will be there for some time to come as they still have a number of apartments to sell.

Regarding mortgage, I eventually took a mortgage with Bancaja, they offered 1% above Euribor which I think is about average, they all seem to have very similar offers going on.

I am still not sure how the snagging items will be put right other than to say the only items we could identify where,

1          the balcony railing was lose and needs reinforcing,

2          the hanging rail in the master bedroom needs supporting in the middle

3          wire tracing on the ceiling needs painting in

Other than that we were very happy with the apartment

Hi folks just wondering did anyone take the measurements for length and width of rooms + door + patio door sizes - I have the area measurements but the length + width would be good - also did anyone sort out air conditioning yet?

Just returned from Jimena, I spent 4 days on  my own over Easter putting up light and bathroom fittings, assembling Argos wardrobes and cabinets which is an art in itself  and just about got everything done but it was pretty intensive. Some points I noticed

I noticed the swimming pool is now blue but the keys they gave me don't work the locks to get into the fenced off area

The lifts are still not working

I didnt see any appartments with A/C's set up, I will look into it next time I go in May

The snagging had still not been done, though as nobody was around due to the holidays i couldnt pursue it but  I think you need to be around to get it done

The wsshing machine didnt work in that the cycles wouldnt change automatically.

Apart from that everything was fine but although a few appartments are occupied by some Spanish famlies most are still empty and it will still be some time before its up and running

Does anyone know why some people have a Trajero (store-room in the basement) and others don't. They are quite big rooms and would be useful for storage, though when I had a look round there didnt seem enough to go round.

As regards room dimensions I have a scaled up drawing in the office which I can get the dimensions from though not quite sure of the door widths . I had to take the door off in the lounge to get my setee through but everything went in Ok

One question I have- does anyone know why some people have a Trajero (store-room in the basement) and others don't. They are quite big rooms and would be useful for storage, though when I had a look round there didnt seem enough to go round

Hi everyone,

Finally I will be signing and getting the keys on 9th April. I am flying from London and have to find accommodation only for myself so thought some of you would like to try out your letting arragements. It will be from 8 till the 13, leaving on Sunday. If any of you fancy having a try please let me know privately on jesus.marin@language.proz.com (your cheapest rate would be greatly appreciated - I would only use it to sleep and as a base).

Btw someone asked about the TRASTEROS (storing sheds). I understand that some flats have one and others don't. Please look at your contract and on the first page at the bottom it should say if you have one or not.

Another question.... someone mentioned Argos..... is there Argos in Spain? There wasn't when I lived there but who knows....

Thanks.

No Argos in Spain to my knowledge. I sent  some  Argos stuff over by flat pack from the UK. There is of course an IKEA at Malaga which seems to be up and running

Hi all

Well our flat is now fully operational and we have our first guests this week. To answer a few points raised recently.

The is an argos of sorts in gibraltar. Basically this is a company that imports what you want from the uk. I will find out more and come back. I kitted mine out toally with Ikea stuff from Malaga. I would be delighted to show any of you around our apartment to show what can be done.

Trasteros or store rooms had to be purchased separately. We bought one but it is really quite small.

I understand that the pool will open in April. I beleive that keys will be provided separately but only to those who are up to date with community fees.

The lifts are not working because I believe there is insufficent money in the community to commission them (hardly anyone has paid yet)

If anyone needs any help with their apartment please send me a private message (we live in the village). Also drop me a line if you are interested in staying in a fully kitted out apartment while sorting your's out.

Hi guys,

Yesterday I had a thought but forgot to write it down. It refers to this comment made earlier on:

The lifts are not working because I believe there is insufficent money in the community to commission them (hardly anyone has paid yet).

I have to disagree with this. According to Spanish law, and common sense too, Arenal 2000 is responbible for the community charges of those flats still not sold or signed for. This means that Arenal has to pay community charges since they said flats were ready for the notary transacion for all the flats that are still to be sold (I think there are quite a few of those) or those whose deeds/keys have still not been signed by the buyer. Therefore the company that runs the community should request these payments from Arenal and set up the lifts and whatever is needed. This is just general info in case someone attends the meeting on 5th April and they want to share it with the people who attend.

Regards.
