Alhama Council Tax

Just to let everyone know I have now paid my Council Tax to Alhama Council.

For me it was 95€ for the year for each of my two apartments a lot lessthan i was expecting.

In order to pay you have to go to the tax office ( Oficina de Gestion Tributaria Y Recaudacion Municipal - Plaza Americas NI 10 Bajo ) in Alhama which is in the Plaza Americas (Near the Town Hall)

The lady i dealt with spoke English.

You need to take your Padron or Deeds with you and Bank Account details.

They set up a directdebit and take money from your bank every May.

Council Tax must be paid by 6th July 2009

Late payment incurs a fine on top of payment.

As far as i am aware they do not send out reminders or notification so you are expected to find out and pay.

You may be able to set up direct debit with them by phone and fax?

Numbers are 968 636 780 and fax 968 633 643  Opens 9-2pm

We are new members to this site, glad to meet you all, we are in Los Naranjos J7, regarding the Council Tax, could we instruct our Solicitors to pay this for us and other utillity bills, i know their will be a fee for doing this.

Your information is v. useful as we plan to go when we are out in a couple of weeks to pay our tax.  Can you let me know if both parties have to attend and also how long does the process take - so we leave ourselves enough time.  We need a copy of our deeds and passports, anything else?

Dont know if your Solicitor can? ask them? if they have Power of Attorney then they probably can but try phoning the tax office you may be able to set up direct debit by phone and fax?

You need bank account number Padron or Deeds takes about 10-15 mins for the office to add you to their system and set up direct debit then you have to send copy of form to your bank. I paid for me and the wife and signed for her.

Strange if you are joint owners you pay half each and get two reciepts

Reciepts will come from bank not town hall?

Does anyone know if this tax is the same as the "IBI Tax"?

Our solicitors are going to set up a direct debit for us to pay this (one-off payment to solicitors for this service). They are also going to calculate and arrange payment of our Non-Resident Tax each year (they are charging us €60 per person per year for this but have no idea how much the tax is). Don't really like having to pay the solicitors to do it for us but at least I'll know we're up-to-date

Welcome to the forum - just noticed that you are from Rochdale.  Although we live in Doncaster, my husband (Paul) is Rochdale born and bred and I lived there for 15 years before we moved to the other side of the Pennines!  Which part of Rochdale are you from? 

Hope to see you at Condado some time - Paul would love to hear another Rochdale accent, as he is completely surrounded by Yorkshire folk now!

Do not worry if you cannot pay before the deadline the "fine" will be minimal.

When we bought our land we eventually got the IBI bill for 18.95 euros. We paid 6 months late and the Town Hall were very apologetic re application of a fine. It was less than a euro!

You can then set up a direct debit.

Another forum has this email address info@alhamademurcia.es.  A number of posters there have emailed for IBI Urbano information.

I phoned them today. You can't pay them by phone but once you get the letter which is sent to your condado residence you can pay it at either the town hall or you can go to a bank and pay it which is a lot easier for us to do.
