First of all I'd like to say how brill I think this forum is. Everyones very helpful and friendly and the info we all get from each other is invaluable.

We've ordered some "zippy" beds from DFS 80cm by 190cm, with the intention of mostly using them zipped together. I am buying the bed linen here to take over but am unsure about the duvet covers. I am thinking that king size will be too small and should go for superkingsize which means I'll have to buy the duvet here as I don't think they do that size in Spain.

Has anyone else had this problem and which one fits best?

I'd be grateful for any advice.

Thanks

Cherrie

I think you can get all sizes in IKEA if you go onto the uk website, they sell the same in the murcia IKEA.  there is also a Yorkshire linen shop in mazarron town near the Mercadona supermarket, just past the roundabout with the 3 ships on.

hope this helps Barbara.

Hi Cherrie,

We have zipped beds in the main bedroom, we ended up getting a mattress protector over here as they don't do superking over there. We also bought our sheets over here and took them over. We did go to yorksire linen but found them quite expensive compared to buying over here and taken them over.

Regards

Mandy

I got my duvets and covers from IKEA and sorely wish I hadn't!!  It is an absolute nigthmare trying to work out all of the sizes and products in Spanish.  Ikea sizes are different from the sizes we are used to thus only Ikea covers will suit.  Honestly, it is the one thing I regret doing.  I got gazillions of other stuff from there but the bedding was a major headache...................

Thanks for the advice. Looks like I need superking then. Will try Ikea, if not then I'll have to take a duvet out with me!

Firstly may I say once again.

Thank goodness for EOS & this site.

We have bought all our bedding from a company called textiles direct

They do have shops scattered about but many do not cover the whole range. internet site is www.tdtextiles.co.uk

their prices cover a wide range & probably suitable for all pocketx

However my thanks go to this thread because we have now realised that the Duvets & duvet / pillow covers that we purchased from Ikea on Saturday will be too long

I have just spoken to Ikea customer services & thankfully they will give us full refund as nothing had been taken out of its packaging

We have 90 days  to return them which I feel is excellent

Only problem now is we have to unpack them ( luckily all the boxes are labeled ) & go out shopping again

Hi

I have read a few replies to this thread regarding duvet sizes and would like to ask a question. Has anyone bought "normal" sizes beds and then used Ikea covers. We have already bought our duvets and covers from Ikea but will go for standard beds from another place. It seems the Ikea covers will be a bit longer and wider.

Has anyone else done this and if so, does it look OK. I don't particularly want to go all the way back for a refund, it took us all day to buy them in the first place.

Hi Phil & Debbie.

We have a king size bed at home. A  K. size duvet cover & an Ikea K.  size duvet.

Duvet ok for bed but too long for Dorma duvet cover. Unfortunatly I had  unpacked it & put it in the cover before realising the error

Resulting in the Duvet bunching up at bottom of cover  which causes the Duvet to ride down leaving a gap at the top of cover because of the weight

I think you would be Ok re your beds but too long for you covers. As I have mentioned in a previous thread Ikea will give you 90 days to return goods. Presumably they would still have to be in original packaging

Best of luck

jan

Jan

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping the duvet will fit in the duvet cover OK as they are all from Ikea and the measurements are the same. Are you saying this isn't the case or will everything be OK as long as it's all from Ikea using the same measurements.

Thanks

Phil & Debbie

Hi there

Yes. If the duvet & the duvet covers are all from Ikea you do not have a problem

Same goes for pillows, though I think they are all  of a standard universal size anyway

If you have bought matress & pillow covers from Ikea they are all ok too.

We have pillow covers from Ikea on our beds at home,  though the pillows were from some where else

( cant remember where) & they fit Ok too

I dont know about you but we seem to have been rushing around like headless chickens over the past couple of months thankfully ats almost done now.Just awaiting a delivery of a couple of things

Maybe you did the sensible thing & buy all from one place.

We have bought all but outside furniture here & still have all the Kitchen electricals still to buy.

These we will get when we are over in March

Hopefully that is it then

Best wishes

jan & Ham

One word of warning.

If you buy a duvet set in IKEA UK you get 50x80 pillows.  If you buy the same (size and style) set in Spain you get 50x60 pillows.

We made the mistake of thinking we were being smart by getting one set here to wash and take over, but when we bought the others sets out there the pillows were a different size.

Hi, have you tried Yorkshire Linen in Puerto de Mazarron, only about 15 minutes from Condado above the Mercadona supermarket.  Everything is in British sizes AND they are an english company, very helpful, great service.  Good range of bedding, curtains, towels, quilt covers.  We looked on their website and they reserved some things for us before we came out.  Can recommend them.

Hi karriepeacock again

I'm not sure if you can post any info on this forum until you have made 10 posts.  If I'm wrong apologies and look forward to hearing from you.  If I am right you have our e-mail address.

Thanks again Jane

Don't know if this is any help but we got our duvets and cases from Primark in Murcia. As far as i know they do all UK sizes. Deb would know better than me as she does soft furnishings etc lol. But we have the same zip up single beds and the single duvets fit perfectly and so using my male logic i assume the doubles would too?

Cheers

Phil
