Hi all

We are coming across for our completion visit next week - Hurrah !

I have a quote from Doyouspain for Car Hire for 3 days at €36

This seems too go to be true and I wondered if anyone else has used them and found any hidden charges which arent immediately quoted on the website. We dont anticipate using a full tank of fuel in the short space of time we are over but even taking into account the cost for this, it still looks a good deal.

Many thanks

Hi Ross,

I've made my first booking with them for my visit next week, like you say they are cheaper than most I'm paying 75Euros for a weeks hire.  Can't really give any first hand feedback until next week but they were recommended to me by a friend you uses them all the time, things to watch out for :-

1) they charge a premium for the tank of petrol, higher than the pump costs, but even with that if you intend to use the full tank it still works out cheaper than other car hire companies.  If you're only there for 3 days will you use a tank full?

2) they will try and talk you into buying extra insurance to give the things not covered by default such as key loss, tyres and windscreen etc.  these are not normally needed but they will try anyway.

Phil

Do you Spain are agents for different companies so it kind of depends on whish car hire firm you end up with.  Over my last 6 visits I have found Auriga Crown to be the best and Record to be the worst - but that's only my own experience.  They will all try to sell you an additional insurance when you arrive to cover the clutch, wheels, windscreen etc.  I took this once but didn't bother the rest of the times.  Think it's an extra 20 euros or so.  Arlene

I agree with you Arlene, I used DoyouSpain and they put me to Record which I must say I didn't have a problem with but but at the begining of the year I used Carjet and they put on Auriga Crown and like you I have found to be the best so far.

But Carjet let me down this time they put me to Goldcar and when I went to pick it up they wanted and extra 22 euros on the insurance and 70 euros for the petrol!!  and because it was 5 days they wouldn't let me bring it back full!!!  Phew! to them.

I've booked through economy cars for this next time and they are putting me to Auriga Crown so we will just see.

So don't forget  Waddle as you are there for only 3 days insist on bringing the car back with a full tank, rather than paying for a full tank!

Hi

We have just got back and used them.  !st time we got Auriga - excellent, this time we got Gold - awful.  Car hire was 78 euros, petrol was 86 euros for a tank! We only had a compact ,would never go through them again.  Going direct to Auriga next time.

When we complained they just shrugged and another customer told us not to bother as he had just had the same arguement.

Good luck
Allison

Agree with everyone about Auriga Crown.  We have been using them direct for the last couple of years and it's always been a first class service.

Car was ready but it looked like it had been in a derby!  Already warned my credit card co that I will not accept any other charges from them just in case they try and charge us for any damage.  I'm sure it had been in an accident prior, it was bashed and bruised and everytime we went on the motorway the noise from the passenger door was horrendous.  Not to mention it sounded like someone had stolen the exhaust.

Wish I could also blame the car for us getting lost all the time but unfortunately that was all down to me, although in my defense my map did have the wrong no.s for the motorways.  Think they must have changed them?

We used Goldcar the first time, didnt have any problems but it did cost €158 for 3 days. This time round we used Auriga and found them to be good. It cost €175 for 5 days but we fell into the trap of the €20 ins and €15 upgrade dont think we will next time.

The only thing I would really recommend is print off the reservation number and info that they send you. We (hate to admit but was me ) didnt print this off and hadnt a clue where to find our car. We used rentspain.com and no one was able to tell us who we had booked with so had to find another car, which we were lucky to find.

Hi
We used doyouspain for the first time. We found them very cheap and helpful. The rental was with Auriga Crown, it only cost 124euro for 8 days in a ford focus station wagon. They gave us a diesel model for the same price as the petrol. I had got quotes ranging from 220 to 156 for the same car. We will be using them again for the New Year.

Hi I was over last week and we used Auriga crown. It cost 48 euros for three days for a seat ibiza four door diesel. We had to bring back the car with a full tankso they charged 50 euros when you take the car and return it about 4 days after returning the car. If you have the car for more than 4 days you have to return the car empty.

Having read everyones comments i've cancelled with Gold Car and booked with Auriga.  Same car but now 56E rather than 75E for a week.

Let you know how I got on next week.

Hi All
We have not used Auriga. but if you go onto their site and read customer comments they do not get a good feedback from customers. I suppose its a case of if you are lucky. We went with Car Jet and they put us with Goldcar. We got a free upgrade and the car was almost new. Speaking to a regualar renter he advised to take out the extra inurance for tyres etc. He and many others had their tyres slashed by vandals and if they did not have cover they would have had to pay for 4 new tyres
