Hi All

Off to Mirador tomorrow and looking forward to getting some much needed sun and desperate to get back there.  Just wanted to add my thoughts on matters that have been raised.

From my experience I have never heard of there being 2 Presidents on any committee, here or Spain.  I think that echos of being some derision and possible lead to two 'camps' , who would make any final decisions on matters?  I feel there should have been an English or Spanish speaking President and vice versa for the Vice- President, it would make things a bit more cohesive.

I am not clear if decisions have been made at the meeting re: pool times, parasol colours etc.  I imagine any decisions will be reflected in the minutes, which will make interesting reading going by Carols account of the meeting!

Probably for the first year it will be a case of 'suck it and see' and any thoughts, opinions directed to the Presidents throughout the year for decision making next year, hopefully more collectively.  I would imagine that should there be any issues that need resolving sooner, an EGM could be called.

Well thats my tuppence worth, its good to hear what people think .  Really should get back to doing some real work but, I'm just too much in the holiday mood.

Will update on anything on our return.

Regards to all

Janet

Dil ..we are good friends..but ..This is getting to be a nonsense..The whole thing has gotten out of hand..and Far too many trouble stirrers.Making problems where there are none.

The same thing was done about a meeting... that was totally fair... and unfounded to be a dirty deal or smelling a rat..as many were spreading the rumour.  Siting spanish law at every level..making people turn against each other and suggesting we needed to do battle with the builder. As things were dodgy. but I saw NO proof on our development of anything except what was promised. Even to filling the pool early in April..ahead of the Spanish ...and keeping it going for the few permanent residents..who enjoyed life to the full.

All that need set in stone here are basic rules based on common sense..Bad Behaviour by ANYONE..lack of Respect for People..or Property.or the Community NOT Tolerated. KIDS...given an 8pm cutoff..

But many People had a swim in the month of August..after 8pm..none had any problems or was there any nonsense.

No one was drinking...or in party mood. We haven't had that sort of crowd...I haven't seen any rowdiness of any kind.

my husband...our neighbours who were swimming..or the spanish policman swiming after work. We were having a dip in a Pool and a chat....I was in at 9.30 when we were asked to keep the noise down by Jo...a couple kids were in with us..not related. But to me..and Dan..there was no undo noise. We were only talking and cooling down. I have kids..but in 100 degree heat with windows open.and no fan or air con.the heat will just as much keep a baby awake as any sounds.

The kids Jo and James mention running wild..we all agreed about.. Also the late hour..for ANY KIDS.. these were dutch..the 2 grandsons visiting next door in their teens were by no means wild.. this is a holiday time in august..and we do intend to have fun everyone..Not sit indoors with the TV like in the UK.

A simple word to their parents..would have incured even more quiet.  But a 8pm closing... in spain in 110 degree heat ..sitting with sweat pouring down your back is NOT only unfair..but stupid.

We are not on a campsite..or in a wet cold climate. We are in Spain.in our own home. If you look at other developments..few will not be in the pool at least till 9....where the normal hours for a apt.complex in spain is 10 am opening..till 10 pm closing.

Which we agreed....a little later was then deemed even better..
AS  KIDS GET OUT SO LATE.   ...This Rule IS FOR ADULTS..NOT KIDS.

This was to give Adults.   ESPECIALLY..THOSE LIKE YOU AND ME DIL..who don't swim well..to have a chance of a dip without being jumped on..sunk by floats & toys.  splashing and screaming.  Getting moved into the deep end for lack of space.
or waiting like Dan and I did..for the kids to move out.

But they are there  all day long. and Jo and james had full use with  their family..as did I with mine when visiting and everyone else. But to say on a August night..with 100 degree temps..and coming home from  grocery shopping..work..or doing jobs indoors..sweat pouring down your back..

YOU SIT AND LOOK AT A   SPARKLING POOL..THAT IS  UNAVAILABLE!        When we have paid for the priviledge..and left all behind to form a new life in the sun?   Just Beggars Belief. And in fairness..I don't rmember the masa hotel having a lifeguard or ring..or others. Early closing is around in  hotels..holiday camps.as it is geared mainly for kids in the day....and often entertainment takes place at night. We have nothing in our complex but a pool.

For myself..we wouldn't be in at 11pm..but already have been at 10pm with plenty of light. and no worries what so ever. I agree a life ring would be good. and a question of better lighting..perhaps a spotlight good as well. But for a few to say...no one can use the pool after 8pm..just turns it into a kids playground in July/August..and I have already lived that life..and worked..as you have..to enjoy a nice life in retirement. chosen In spain..not the Uk..and spain is open all hours..

Regarding the Awnings..Sadly I  replied to this forum..as you brought it to my attention people wanted to know about the meeting. I wish I hadn't . I simply was giving ALL the topics covered.and \Maria and Mary Carmen from Mahersol brought up Awnings.. I for one look forward to having one someday..as it is easier than an umbrella..and they also mentioned the Gazebos that many already have installed. My intention was to be helpful..and try to give all that was covered.  But it was a big mistake.
Too many are trying to make a regime..not an easy place to live. And making problems where there are none.

Carol

MY APOLOGIES.. I have opened a Can of Worms.and caused a lot of disputes.

I very stupidly got involved in something best left alone. My intentions were simply to answer questions for those who were not present at the meeting.. of what was covered.

A lot of tensions have formed over the past weeks...as we all worry for what costs will be involved. . Especially in light of the horrible fall of the Pound to an all time low. No one is more worried..or at risk than ourselves. With 2 houses to pay..and no job. We were to be permanent residents as of April.

PLEASE BELIEVE ME..WHEN I SAY..WE WANT NO FALLING OUT WITH ANYONE.. We have enjoyed every chat on here..and especialy  meeting everyone at Mirador.   Everyone we have met, are very kind..friendly..and caring people.

We are all looking to enjoy our lives..whether as a holiday home..or a residence. I deeply apologise for any unintended offense..

A simple question of a night swim..has gone far astray. the safety issue is well noted..and it was intended to give the Adults an hour or two..which should be stipulated.

We definitely had a lot of noise with barking dogs as well in August..which carried on for some week.s..and is also an issue mentioned. We are all in early days..nothing has been finalised  to my knowledge..And EVERYONES views I am sure will be taken into account.

Once again I am extremely sorry. A fight on my hands..or bad will...is the last thing I wanted.

Best wishes to All. Carol

Hi all,
I've been very busy catching up with the comments on this thread after being away on business. There seems to be some unusual excitement with regard to certain ' rules ' that are being put forward. I think that Janet has a very good idea and that an EGM needs to be called in the near future so that we can all have our say with regard to the do's and don'ts.
I think we all agree that Mirador is what we have all strived for otherwise we wouldnt have bought, the community from our experience having been there a few times since March is extremely friendly wether they are British, Spanish, Dutch or Flemish. We all have differing views on many things, who is to say who is right and who is wrong. As long as we all treat eachother with respect everything will turn out fine.
The nonsense with regard to pool times seems to have got out of hand, if people want to use the pool at 10 pm who is to say that they must not. My family love Mirador and we hate having to come back to the UK, but have to we must. Everytime we are there we make it more of a home and make more friends, we love it. The last thing we all want is to have thought that we have bought somewhere that we now detest. We all need to use a little commonsense and should anyone become upset with regard to anything or with anyone just politely have a word, after all we are all grown-up people.
In all the times we have been there we have had nothing but enjoyment, and that is a way it will always be for my family and I.
We are out to the apartment from early October for a fortnight, to gather more friends and enjoy the weather, hoping that our plants have been kept watered by the automatic irrigation sytem that I set-up, I'm not that clever really, just hope the battery has lasted !
It will be good to catch up with everyone, i know our neighbours, Andy & Donna, have now made there move more permanent so it will be good to see them again. Lets all chill out and have a glass of wine, thats my inention when I get home from work.

Adios
Ian, Jill, Louisa and Hannah

One last apology from me...

in my remarks of trouble stirring..(which is a bit strong)..and the Spanish law  being quoted..I obviously have caused some upset and anger with people... and they have informed me.

The comment ...was regarding the days when the letter arrived... And not meant as any slur against  anyone.

...But when word arrived in Spain of the proposed meeting. Many people weren't even ready to listen to what was going to be said by the builder...they  immediately wanted the meeting cancelled...and suggested all sorts of plans of   action..and Spanish law quoted many times.... Convinced we were going to face  a conflict of some sort.

But they had no idea what was actually going to take place.

If we cancelled.and  fought against the builder..it could have made serious problems for all of us..And it is in my opinion..better to know what you are facing..then let it come later  as a surprise.

Cancellation wasn't allowed in law anyway.

As it happened..it was just the  simple basic meeting regarding community charges..and the pool mainly...
Nothing nasty at all.

Again..I am so very sorry I have caused so much upset ..  My way of speaking is very open..I Do Not mean any offense to anyone.... I just  said what I saw happening.. and it wasn't very pleasant.

Aternoon all from a very windy north-east Scotland,
I meant to mention this in last post, somebody earlier on this thread mentioned the pool being closed from November through to April, why ?
We were in Rojales last December and the weather was great so we used the outdoor hotel swimming pool. It was a bit chilly for some but not for others, I'm sure that when we are visiting our apartment between November and April that we would want the use of the pool, and I'm sure that many of the permanent residents would want to use it on such ocassions when the weather is hot. The cost of keeping the pool in use is negligable, I and my children  would want the use of it at anytime of the year
when we are there.

Hi Ian,

I can answer that question for you..according to what was said at the meeting.

We were asked..(Mick as president..and all those present )...what months we would like the pool open.

Immediately the reply was ALL YEAR.. To this the head chairperson...Mary Carmen..explained that in Spain that would be difficult...as to use a pool in winter...it would involve higher upkeep and special chemicals to keep it clean. And they are not good for your skin. That is all I can say.

WE all agreed there could be good weather in winter..

The normal Spanish months are earlier..I believe May till Sept/Oct. she said...So we were able to extend it a bit.

Since that time I do not know of what other things have transpired. But as someone mentioned...it will almost certainly be open to discussion once some basic guidelines are set up.

This meeting was not done with formal announcements..and everyone being drawn to attention. It was very casual..with mainly general issues suggested.or mentioned..  by either the  chairperson...or those present..And an opinion given.

I believe these will all be noted in the minutes....and then a copy passed onto everyone.

The important  issue...is for everyone to see that Mick has your Email addresses to give to Mahersol. As she was taking down all addresses at the meeting. And mentioned Email was easier than post..  Whether that was to issue the minutes..or further updates..I am not sure. But get your  Email addresses out if you have anyone to pass it onto at Mirador. If not, perhaps someone going over soon can take it for you.

All the best, Carol

Hi All,

Just a suggestion but if it helps we have corresponded with Maria of Rodas (we believe that she is the rep for the administrator) via the email address as follows:

comunidades@rodas3.com

We have asked for a copy of the minutes in English preferably and she said that she will oblige once she has them completed and translated etc.

We explained who we were and our house no. at Mirador etc and she is going to email minutes directly to us.

Might be a bit quicker than via Mick. Does anyone have Mick's email address?

Regards,

James & Jo.

Hi Carol

Thanks for the information re the pool.  You are right, when  we have all experienced being at Mirador over the winter and early Spring, we will be able to judge better if the months the pool is open should/could be extended.  Certainly when we moved in at the beginning of April it was hot.  So warm that we had to buy the kids a paddling pool to put on the roof terrace to cool them down a bit and, when they weren't looking, we were also dipping our toes!

Hi James and Jo

Thanks for the Rodas email address.  We too will send one requesting a copy of the minutes.  Sorry - don't have Mick's email address.

Best regards

Jill, Ian & Girls

Hi Ian, Jill & girls,

.........and that paddling pool now resides on top our our solarium. Thanks to yourselves Isabel is chuffed to bits with her own private paddling pool which she dives into regularly to avoid the heat of the day!

I owe you a beer or three for that.

Anyone need any water as we have had more than enough here in the North East this weekend?

Cheers,

James, Jo, Isabel & Hope too :)

Hi all - just to say cheerio for now and welcome back to Janet and Billy.     Off today for 2 weeks sunshine hopefully.  When we go on holiday I can guarantee you'll have a heatwave here without fail.  It's a standard joke in work and happens every time.  I watch the forecasts almost daily for Orihuela (nearest place I can find to Cox on the sites) and for the past 2 months it's been a great ball of fire in the sky.  Yes, you guessed - I was watching last week and grey clouds coming in with threat of rain the weekend past !  Sods law doesn't even begin to explain it! LOL  Having said that (and I am just whispering at this stage) the yellow ball is back again at the moment, so hope I don't frighten it away.

Will report back in due course.  I expect there will have been some drama or other - hope so or life will be boring.

Take care and please keep chatting so I can catch up when we return in 2 weeks.

Dil xx

Hello all, I've put another couple of posts within this section as we are in another Mahersol development in Benejúzar about 8km from you and much of what you're saying here rings a bell (our community was setup around last November I think (that's Nov 2007).

I can see some of this discussion got a little over-heated so whilst I'm not wanting to poke my nose in where it's not wanted it's harmless to tell you the way it's worked out for us and then leave you to resume your own discussions..

1. Having two "Presidents" isn't an option. I think unless you have a spaniard involved within a mixed committee you'd be digging a hole for yourself towards a british ghetto setup. We have a spanish president who speaks perfect english and he's assisted by an english "deputy" or "vice president" I think may be the official title. You could have "Mick" in this role which is great so the only problem I can see is if Mick and the Spaniard can't communicate (can the spaniard speak good english or Mick good spanish?). In summary you can only have a number 1 and a number 2 and they have to be able to effectively communicate with each other. Two number one's simply wont work. You also mention "Eric" who assists "Mick" which is fine but as far as the formal setup goes two's company but three's probably a crowd   ;O(

2.  Swimming Pool. We are in a very large apartment block, not high-rise, just 3 floors, with 52 apartments in total (mix of 1, 2 and 3 bed). The pool is on the rooftop which is great as it's up out of the way for me (I'm on ground floor) but the people on top floor have their solariums up there also, as are all the air-conditioning units for most of the block (it's very well designed though and not noisey as I'd imagined it might be). Our rules say the pool is closed between I think Novemberr and April, and most of the other things that have been mentioned ealier in this thread (no floats, sunbeds, eating etc). At first glance this seemed a bit OTT to me but it quickly became apparent that the community really looked on these more as guidelines rather than hard and fast rules. If I want to take my kids up swimming at 9pm then I can and no-one's ever complained as they are as well behaved as they can be. Obviously if there were 20 kids up there at that time of night (a) I wouldn't be going up there (b) I'd assume the noise level would probably be unacceptible to the people sat on their private solariums up there, hence you have to have rules as a framewwork to work within. At the end of the day it's all down to common sense and unfortunately in any large group you're always likely to get someone who wants to upset the applecart.

If someone expects the pool to be cleaned and filtered 365 days a year then they will need to pay for it. If the majority want it that's fine but if they don't  that's fime too.  I can go for a swim on xmas day if I wish and no-one will stop me but there's little point in me complaining if it's not like it was back in August.!!!

I'm an avid believer in "when in rome do as the romans do" and I enjoy Spain for what it is and not what I may think I'd like it to be.

En Espanol

Hola.

Hello. Although I do not speak Spanish, I am trying to learn and I know lots of the other residents are learning too.  There are some Spanish residents on Mirador DLV2 and also people from UK, Belgium, Holland, and other countries too.  It is a good place to live, very friendly and quiet most of the year, which is very good.  I hope you will love it as much as we do.  Unfortunately we are not there at the moment to meet you.  Please forgive my spanish as I am using google to translate which I am sure is much better than any attempt I could make myself.

Adios and Good Luck!
