We are looking for a 7-10 day home swap  in August somewhere in a relatively Covid-lite area in Spain.  Our UK holiday plans have fallen through due to virus fears over there, and we have a family with three children already booked into our house here and don't want to dissapoint them.  (We were interested in going to France but can't risk a border closure.) We'd be looking at a non-similtaneous exchange, possibly at the end of September, and can offer our holiday self-contained accomodation with swimming pool in a lovely cortijo 15 minutes from the pretty town of Huércal-Overa in the province of Almería in Andalucía.  The accomodation sleeps 2 in a double room, and we would no pets and no smoking. We'd ideally like the middle of the month if possible.  Please contact me for further information this could be of use to you.

We have a rental property.  Our tenant, whose tenancy agreement comes to an end at the end of this month, has expressed a desire to buy our property rather than continue to rent.  We are happy to sell when the agreement has finished. But... there is a clause in the contract to say that should the tenant wish to buy either during the agreement or after (how long after??), it must go through th eestate agents who set up the agreement.

Is this correct?  They have already been paid to do the work connected with the rental.  Can they really demand a commission after a rental agreement has finished?  Maria de Castro, can you shed any light on this, please.  Thank you.

This is quite a specific question to which i cannot find an answer on the usual websites such as HMRC, etc.

Our earned income is from courses sold worldwide but mainly in the UK and the USA, on the internet.  Can we apply to pay tax in the UK rather than Spain on monies earned?  We are resident in Spain and have no assets in the UK, although we do have a British bank account.

Maria, this might be one for you, but any informed answers/ guidance/ pointers would be welcome, especially from anyone doing this- if it is possible.

Thank you all,

Donna

Maria,

Are there tax implications in buying a second home in order to get a rental income?  I suspect there are, but would welcome some clear facts and figures, please.

Thank you,

Donna

Thank you all for your helpful replies.  We're buying, and it's not in Valencia. We already live here and have NIEs so that's not going to be an expense.
