Hello All

We got back yesterday having completed sucessfully on 11th June.  We absolutely love Mirador and didn't want to come home.  All the neighbours we met were lovely and the swimming pool got a massive thumbs up from the kids.  We are a bit stressed as we have a leak in the ceiling in the second bedroom and problems with our roof terrace - at first it appeared that we had a massive leak under the roof terrace tiles but after various contractor visits (whilst the furniture was being delivered) it looks like iwhere the tiles haven't been grouted properly, after the massive rainfall the water was all squelching out (techinical term).   Bit worried as place now furnished and we won't be there to oversee works which start on Monday but we are back out on 21st July for two weeks and am just online booking flights - yay!!   How is everyone's snags going??

Hi Louise and Campbell,

Welcome back..and A Big congratulations!  I am so glad your completion went smoothly..but so sorry for the problems with the leaking.  I am glad it is not as serious as first thought.  There has been a tremendous amount of rain lately.    We had to go over twice last month..and had some unbelievable downpours both times.  Everywhere was flooded.

We were optimistic that everything seemed OK at Mirador. As there were no obvious signs of leaks. And all the drainage seemed to be working.

Our Apt. did have a half grouted end to our balcony roof..where the tiles end. And the filler was missing. But they did fill that in and fix it when we told them on a previous visit.   Looking over the roof area...a lot of tiles just seemed to be sitting there..with not a lot holding them in place. I did comment on that to my husband. So perhaps we should take a closer look when we return.

We didn't have the opportunity to do a snagging.. We signed on May 29th....which was a  Thursday. And were told no one was available on the Friday  to go over the apt with us.
As we were going home at the weekend... we have to wait until our return in  August.  When someone from Masa will go around with us. We are Hoping anything that is wrong..will still be looked after.

I do hope they sort everything out for you....without any damage. Glad you enjoyed your stay..and we look forward to meeting you in the future.

All the Best,
Carol & Danny.... No 50

Hi, Louise and Campbell,

Congratulations on your completion!  Isn't it a relief when you leave the office with the keys?!  We completed in March and are so mucking forward to being out again.  It's a shame about the leak, but we found the builders to be most efficient, so hopefully you won't have any more problems.

Look forward to meeting you in the swimming pool or somewhere drier!

Very best wishes,

Donna and Andy

Hi everyone.  Back in the land of the living again.  Must admit that it was getting so hot, I was looking forward to the cool again.  That feeling lasted till we reached the bottom on the aeroplane steps at midnight in the rain.  I almost ran back up the steps and demand to be taken back to Alicante asap!

We had a great 3 weeks but don't ask me where the time went - it just flew.  We celebrated Alan's 60th in Alicante whilst there.  Family and friends flew out to join us for his surprise party, and we had a briliant time.  Various members of the family then stopped over with us.   I apologise for the noise to all our neighbours, especially to Cambell and Louise our next door neighbours.  Lovely to have met you, your mum, and your children, Hope and Mac, who are a credit to you.  The party all came in convoy to Mirador the day after the party in Alicante, and because the BBQ was rained off, we all de-camped into the lounge which ended in a sing song with my brother on guitar. We enjoyed it, but I'm sure you all needed earplugs for that evening and several others.  The good news is that is most definitely was a one-off and I'll try to be on best behaviour in future! LOL

We've had a busy time, not just with visitors, but also finishing off jobs, getting beds in, putting in shower cubicle and putting up mirrors (again apologies for the cursing and swearing whilst these jobs were underway!)    We thought we were going for a holiday this time - no good at thinking me!

Nice to meet you too Jo - although very briefly.  Hopefully will meet Andy soon too.   I'm sure we were supposed to meet up with others from this forum whilst we were out there, but I lost track completely of who was where and where was who!

During out time out there we took the visitors to Santa Pola which is a lovely run, Guardamar which really is a 'must do', La Zenia another 'must' with a smashing restaurant right on the sea front with reasonably prices.  The real hightlights though were Orihuela and even better was Lake Pedura which you can drive all around.  Scenery stunning, although picnic/stopping areas not too good.

Will try to attach a few pics, though after last time's attempt, this may be my last!

Keep up the news.

Dil

Just uploaded a few pics.  With apologies for them being disjointed but our computer and this website are not compatible.  I was only able to upload a max of 2 pics at a time and even they took around 10 mins per upload.  The pics are a mix of Orihuela, Lake Pedura (a fresh water lake within easy distance from us at Cox and well worth a visit), the new office on the site opposite us at Calle Cadiz, and my sister's birthday present to me of the bourganvilla.

BTW Apologies to Barrie (or should that be James!) and Sandra for not having mentioned them in my last posting.  Enjoyed your company and thank you for the lemon which forced us to have a few more G&T's before we left!

Cheers

Hi, Dil and Alan,

Wonderful to see the new photos and to be reminded as I sit here with the heating on and with blinding rain lashing against the window panes that somewhere, there is a sunny spot that I call Home...ah... how poetic..1

it was really good to meet you, even ever so briefly, when we were out there, and delighted that the Big Birthday went so well, Alan!  (How about a few photos??)  We're keeping Oxfam and Freecycle going as we begin to clear out our house ready for our Escape to the Sun.  I never knew I had so many kitchen gadgets, and as for the books- why, O why have we continued to move stuff from attic to attic in the vague hope that it might one day come in useful?

Enjoy the cooler weather!

Donna x

HELLO!!

To Donna and Andy..and Dil and Alan,

so good to see some friends online again..and new pics. It has been quiet on EOS far too long.

Great to hear all Dils' news..and that the big surprise party went so well.

Like you Donna..we are also starting to clear out everything..and anxious to be able to ship some things over. But have to wait and show the house first. We hope to sell quickly. A little Wishful thinking in this current market.

However, the  thought of the sunshine...mountains..and Mirador..will keep us going.

Hope we can all meet up some day very soon..and share that drink on the balcony.  (Donna, I forgot to show you the corkscrew when you were in our Apt. ..our first item thanks to you & Andy)

All the Best, Carol & Dan
