Does anyone know if the supermarkets are now open on a Sunday. I believe they open on Sundays during the high season but am not sure if this the same for the Duquesa area. Open Cor is a very useful supermarket to have as they open 7 days a week  but I think the nearest one is in the Port at Estepona unless anyone else knows one nearer.

None of them have ever been open on a Sunday when we have been out - even the Carrefor in Estepona and the Al Campo at La Canada were closed - even in July / August.  The only place we ever found open was the traditional shop on the way up to Manilva (has grape vines and strings of garlic and tomatos etc outside).  That one is a real 'open all hours'  establishment!  Beccy's in the square are open on Sundays and sell bread and basics I think.

The main supermarkets are allowed to open 7 or 9 Sundays per year and they do this in the high season, this has been the case for some 5 years or so. They often publish the dates in store.

However many small shops/mini super markets are open on a Sunday from 10 - 1400, in Sabinillas and Manilva (you can even buy fresh meat/chicken on a Sunday in the back streets if you know where to look. Pascal y hijo is always open Sunday midday 2/3 up the hill from Sabinillas to Manilva.

Also fresh bread is available every day in these shops. Don't forget garages sell bread, milk, tins, spirits and vino and many open long hours till 10 at night.

In Castillo and Sabbi there are a number of small supermarkets that are open on Sundays. There is also a shop in sabbi just down from the pharmacy which sells fresh bread on Sundays.

Eroski  and Dia are open from 9-00 till 2.00 on Sunday for the summer, these sell everything.
they are situated by the next roundabout past the Hotel....also a great new english fish and chip shop behind DIA, worth a try if you fancy some real english food, however the service is a bit slow as the ladies behind the counter dont stop nattering to each other.

'The Clubhouse' bar, restaurant and deli is a great Irish run place with a lovely international menu above those supermarkets near the chip shop too.  They do discount golf and a Sunday roast and paella nights as well as lovely breakfasts.
