I read on one of the other threads about some people bringing down wine glasses to the bottom pool, a couple of weekends ago I went down to the pool in the morning and some one we suspect  had thrown a Beer bottle from one of the balconies in between the small pool and large pool...we can only assume it was from a balcony as the Corona Beer bottle was smashed to smithereens.   We did notice a few young men the evening before drinking corona from bottles by the pool, who were staying in the front apartments overlooking the pool. Obviously we can’t point any fingers.

My Son in law and another lady spent an hour sweeping up the mess, the very fine shards were very difficult to see on the sparkly tiles.  A little later on the lady security guard came down with an industrial hoover and went over the area again.

ok so we cant ban glass in the Apartmetns, but by the pool, definately!

I agree - we should make the no glass by the pool rule clear.  It's easy enough to get plastic 'glasses' and to decant liuquids into other containers.  it would be awful if glass got into the pool in particular.

Well,

this just seems to support the policy of stay at home in the silly season (July and August)  when the drunken renters are out there determined to have a "good time".

Looking forward to being there in September when its gone quiet.

Some of us hoped that buying in to a more upmarket development we could escape the drunken yobs.

A friend of mine in Majorca lives on a development where renting is not permitted.     Leasing is ok - periods of > 6 months.

I don't expect many of DV owners would want to go that far but it sounds good to me.

regards,
Paul

Today's  news headline says it all

British arrests soar 32% in Spain

Maybe we need  a holding cell built by the gatehouse for those drunken renters pending the arrival of the local police.

When we were out in August, I saw on a number of occasions, people taking beer bottles and glasses down to the pool area.  It is common sense that glass should not be taken down to the pools.  It would only take one piece of glass and then children running around would get their feet cut open.  It is totally irresponsible to do this.  I think there should be a notice put up (if there isn't one already) stating clearly that only plastic containers should be used near the pools.  I find it incredible that adults would need to be even reminded about this.

A notice won't stop this from happening.

In July and August in particular there will always be people  like this  breaking all the rules and and ignoring all of the notices.
We need to consider extending the scope of the Village security patrol to take the role of  Policing the site.
But could they really enforce the rules if these people are determined to ignore them?
They do  not have the power of arrest so if the they fail to shame the culprits  then there is litte they could do  short of taking photo's of the culprits.

One wonders if DV (without any kind of  regulation  enforcement) is going to attract more of this unruly type of person who enjoys being free of any restraint (self restraint or otherwise).

It's unlikely that such people will disclose their apartment numbers.  Any ideas ?

It's a pity that we don't have an picnic area where these people could go to sit out in the evening with their drinks.
I wonder if some picnic tables down by the Padel courts might do it:?

We mustn't lose sight that we are bound to have a number of irresponsible people among an apartment population of 600+ but that shouldn't distract from the enjoyment we all get from DV. It is obvious that the summer months will get increasingly busy , unless the credit crunch really bites, and we need to plan what we do as community to avoid the situations in the future which will might possibly spoil our enjoyment.

To me the situations which crop up are usually caused by ignorance of community rules, inconsideration of others and plain ignorance.  i would like us to have on site a super warden type person with powers to implement the community rules. he/She could be there each day to ensure that the place is running smoothly.  It is obvious that we cannot expect the pool attendant to do this and i am sure the additional cost  for 6 months beyween 600 of us would be minimal.

Thoughts?

Hi Alan & Ann-Marie

I quite agree about the glass and I'm sure that there was a notice on the toilet block wall saying that no food or drink was to be allowed around the pool.  I'm sure it even said no ball games.  When Natalia was there she did mention that the notices were not clear and were to be removed and re-done so I'm not sure if the large notice is still on the wall.
