No really too keen on wine but was at a restaurant recently a had a bottle of house red which i thought was the best wine that I have ever had. The only problem is I do not seem tom be able to buy it anywhere. Can anyone help? The label read

Coto Hayas,

2008,

Garnacha, Syrah,

Campo De Borja.

Try this link.  Looks like you can buy it online.

My favourite is a red from Aldi - Heredad de Loza from La Mancha.  At about 95c a bottle it is wonderful - and the spanish restaurant next door uses it as it's house red!

Thanks Claire T.  I will give that Aldi one a try.

Things good here, thanks, David.  Glad you like the link.

I think ordering online can be really handy and don't mind paying a little extra (postage) if you get what you want.  I bought this really good wine in Eroski not long ago (about €2) and thought I'd go back two days later and buy a few more bottles only to discover it had all been sold!  Not seen it since and can't remember the name!  Next time I'll check online!

A little tip I was given (not sure if it's true or not, but hasn't failed me yet) is that if a bottle has a deep "dimple" in the bottom (you know, the bit that sinks into the bottle at the bottom - don't know what it's called) it's generally a sign of a decent wine.  Now, don't all shout at once - it's just a tip I was given and now I generally, with wines I don't know, test the "dimple"!!!!    If this was a generally known tip (that I wasn't aware of) and you all knew then why didn't someone tell me before now!!

Hi Jan

I heard the "dimple theory years ago, but had forgotten

From memory it only works for red wine!!!!

(After six weeks in Spain it was hard coming back to the UK)
