Hi, just need a little advice, I mentioned before about maybe moving to Salou  for 6 months or a year and being able to take my work with me because I can work online. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice on that. Just we have found a nice apartment near Cap Salou but I need to install business internet into it. The landlord said we can have internet but just wondering what company to go with because I need a business line because I will be working with big files. I know the internet cafes use business internet but I am a Graphic Designer and work with big files transfering them back and forth from UK to Spain. If anyone has any advice it would be greatfully received.

Hi samdxx,

I had a friend who did this and did it with telefonica, at the moment they are offering up to 12 mg in some areas, i have 6 mg and pay around €70 a month for the line rental, the phone rental and the internet.

There are loads of companies out there and some probably cheaper but most need you to install a telephone line with telefonica first.

Prices and information on www.telefonica.es

Joan

I would not recommend Telefonica to anyone! They are expensive, they have no customer service skills, they are useless in a problem, they tell you someone will be at your house within 48 hours and I ended up waiting 2 months before telling them to cut me off, the customer service department kept telling me to call the technical department( Spanish speaking only and not a free call!) who then informed me the problem was not technical and I had to call customer services(this went back and forth for 2 months!) and I have heard others on here say they rarely recieve the 6mb they are paying for, more like 2mbs!

We are now with Orange who I am more than happy with. Our monthly bills are half the price they were with Telefonica. Having said this, ours is for personal use,not business.

Sorry for the Telefonica rant!!

BT offer packages here which seem competitive on price but you do have to have a Telfonica line installed first - I echo Emerald - Telefonica are a nightmare to deal with - lots of over charging and errors as well - getting them to sort a problem is like pulling hens teeth - I remember a few years back (05 or 06) they announced record, record, record profits - way way above expectations - a spokesman was asked on TV what it could be attributed to and ON TV he openly stated it was down to mistakes and overcharging!!!! I wonder if he managed to keep his job!! Perhaps they should recruit him to the House of Commons!!

Emerald, what is the website name for orange? Do you mean that you don't need a phone line with telefonica at all?

Might be 3G stick - Vodafone do the same - download speed can be very very slow so with large files its not ideal - unless Orange do something different.

Hi

www.orange.es

As soon as I signed up with orange they sent me a 'livebox' which is a router and you plug your phone into it for cheap calls. I had no more dealings with Telefonica at all. The router is plugged into the same wall socket so i don't know if it is still a telefonica line or not? We only get bills from Orange though, no separate bill for line rental?
