Your income would need to be declared in spain and pay appropriate tax and autonomous you will then get full health care.
Personal tax limits are different and autonomous payments are about 250 euros per month. There is reduced figure for new start ups but this may be limited to certain ages not sure
You could survive on what you say depends on your needs etc

Hi All
I;m told that I would have a less stressful lifestyle by giving up the modern business life. Though I own a holiday appartment out there it might not be the best to retire to, but there are some great rural properties which I can envisage the quiet life. I have three questions, before I push too hard.
1) how much is medical ensurance out there, Valencia region. i'm 53.
2) Would I be able to survive on 1100 - 1200 euro a month. Single person no mortgage
3) How would the taxes work out as most of y income would be from property rentals in the UK
