We spend a lot of time in Orihuela Costa, now it's decision time, should we move over permantly, we have a temporary SIP card,  what we need to know is, because we aren't as yet pension age, 60 and 59, if we move over permantly and take up residency, paying any taxes in Spain, will we get free health care using the SIP card system, everyone has a different answer to this question, even after asking at the information office in the town hall, we are still none the wiser,  we are early retirees, we aren't disabled, we aren't working or self employed or pensioners,  any information would be great

I can't see why everyone would have a different answer on this as it is quite simple. Unless you are employed with a contract, self employed (autonomo) and paying the social security of around 250 a month, a student, disabled with the correct authorisation or over pensionable age then you do not get free health cover.

Options are private health insurance, use the regional healthcare system (if they have one). The latter will cost €60 a month per person and can only be taken out after you have lived in Spain for more than 12 months.

Also note that you should also provide evidence of health cover (either private or state) before you can take out "residency" (going onto the register of EU foreigners living in Spain) to allow you to stay more than 3 months in Spain.

Also please remeber that private medical insurance usually will not cover pre-existing conditions or anyone over 65 years. I think the €60 a month quoted is a tad optimistic for your age group.

You will also need to prove with documentation you are capable of supporting yourselves financially.

The €60 is for the regional health scheme in Valencia for under 65s, not private insurance.
