We have contracted for a long term rental in Javea and commencing mid-February 2015.  We know Javea and the area but have only travelled there by car (we have dogs) in the summer months.  All Brittany Ferries dog friendly cabins are sold out.

If we were to follow our summer route it would be to stay overnight in Bayonne then through to Pamplona Zaragozza then Valencia.

However what (yes one cannot predict weather so far ahead) road conditions are we likely to come across.  Any thoughts please as to alternative routes?  We have lived in France for years so the routes the other side of the Pyrenees are well known to us.

thanks again

I have driven down to Murcia in December and returned in January for 5 years and have had no trouble going under the Pyrenees. After Bordeaux I head towards Bayonne on the A63 but then branch off to Lescar(Pau) and go under the Pyrennes through a toll free tunnel at Canfranc and on to Jaca, Huesca and Zaragozza.

I usually stop at a B & B Hotel or Ibis in Lescar and it takes about 9-10 hours from there to Murcia. I use a Tomtom satnav and just put in my destination via non toll roads and follow the route.
