Audio recording of AGM

I would like to record the AGM solely for my own note taking purposes to make sure "things" arent left out.
Do I presume that asking for permission would be the first thing to ask for or as it is a meeting of the owners that only notifying them that a recording of the AGM will be taking place is sufficient
