Ok thanks John. They are a married couple its just i dont think the mother in law paid enough stamp or opted out or something so im guessing what they get which is about £700 a month for his pension is IT .

Selsey, I get around 960 euros every 4 weeks. As I said I get the allowance for my wife who is not English, so never paid anything into the UK system, and she is well under retirement age. So your friend for sure should be getting an allowance for his wife. I would suggest that he / you call DWP, 00 44 191 2187777, and ask.
