Easyjet has just contacted us by email, as we're flying from the UK to Spain next week.

All they wanted was our passport numbers, dates of birth & nationality. There were drop down boxes so nationality came on as "UK".

Regards,

Rosemary

This has nothing at all to do with the Treaty, but was agreed at one of the EU summit meetings.

From nect year all countries in the EU, including Britain will require API. It is just the Spanish arte jumping the gun in asking for it a year early.

For the present it does not apply if you enter Spain via Gibralter or other EU country provided  you have a EU passport with the magnetic info strip, or one of the new bio metric chip passports.

Yep, regardless of type of passport you need to supply the details from 13th June (according to BMIbaby, we are flying on 9th June and don't need it but we have had to supply it for our flights in August).

From 11th June with Easyjet.

As a result of new legislation from the EU, all passengers travelling from the UK and Switzerland to Spain on flights departing 11 June onwards are required to provide Additional Passenger Information (API) before they travel.

One or more destinations in your booking above require you to provide the date of birth, nationality and passport or national identity card details for each passenger on the booking.

In order to do so, follow these steps:

  • Log in to My easyJet.com
  • For each outstanding booking you have which involves a destination in Spain, click the "View" button
  • Then click the "Add Document Details" button on your confirmation page
  • Enter the information as requested

Please ensure you provide this information for all passengers, including children and infants, from the travel documents you will use for all affected bookings. If the information supplied is incomplete, inaccurate or does not match the documents presented for travel, the affected members of your travelling party will not be allowed to take their flight.

Kind regards

Your easyJet team

If you read my previous posting you will see that I refer to land entry as well as that by air.

Spain is introducing the API requirements form 11th June. Whereas the rest of the EU is not introducing it until next year.

To be honest I do not think it will mean any difference when going by land as how are you going to provide the info beforehand.

It will mean a differnce when going by air to spain from the UK and Switzerland only at the moment.

This does pose a question though are spain asking for the API from all european countries and if not go to France by train and catch a flight from there.
